List Mgmt. 2015 Draft Prospects

I'll back in Matt Rendell to pick a few high quality KPF's in this draft and next. He has an excellent track record with Tippett, Gunston, Walker, Talia, Jenkins, among a few others.

Picking one up on the open market would just cost us too much, unless its through FA and there's none available. I get the feeling that is the thinking at the club also with rumours around Dangerfield, Treloar and Prestia.

Yeah, a young forward would be good but hard to prize out. All those talls you mention were got by Rendell pretty late (Walker I think NSW program) but none super early picks.

It would almost be good to do a 2006 with 3 tall picks early. I reckon we are pretty well stocked with mids now, especially if we get a free agent.

Gunston (29), Tippet (28), Talia (14), Walker (NSW, 70's) and Jenkins was plucked off Essendon's rookie list.

Yeah, I wouldn't be against that at all. I wish they would give us a better indication of what they want to do with Moore. My feeling is he'll go forward and would be disappointed if he didn't.

I hope so too. Even with Keeffe leaving I don't see it as a massive hole.

I think we could add one, purely due to the fact our backs are so injury prone, but if Marsh shows an ability to play on the Gorilla's then I'd be more comfortable with what we've got.

If worst comes to worst Goldy or Marsh can take up the slack but I suppose we need to start planning for life post Reid and Brown. A clutch of KP recruits now would be great: Schache and Weidemann for example. I don't know where they are placed but some maneuvering for spots is not impossible.

Just had a look at Brett Anderson's rough guide from April.

As he says its obviously loose and malleable but if it ends up being something like what it is now then Schache (currently 9th) and Weidemann (12th) is not beyond us. I imagine our natural 1st pick would probably be around 9. You'd probably have to trade a player and 2nd round to climb up to the 12 mark.

In 2006 we traded Tarrant to get pick 8 (Reid) to go with our natural pick 10 (Brown) and then used pick 28 for Dawes. Might be more difficult this year to get another 2 first round picks but not impossible. Add to that a free agent like Dangerfield (if Cats go for Rance) and that's a decent dividend.

What about Josh Schache? Kids from Seymour and is already 199cm tall and is high rated Power Forward?

I've been wondering if we were going to do a 2006 this year also, especially as we only nabbed the one (admittedly excellent) tall prospect in Moore last year, who was a bit of a no-brainer F/S selection.

Since Rendell came across I've been looking forward to seeing the talls he can unearth for us. Let him loose, Dekka!

And just quietly, I'd be stoked to see Weideman running around in the black and white if they think he's good enough. The thought of him playing for anyone else makes me ill.

Listening to episode 3 of Road to the Draft podcast, Weidemann is out probably for the year with an injury.

Yeah, could land a tall with pick 1 and Weidemann with pick 2 now. That's a pretty good net.
Would be amazing if we could get Weed and Schache, but we would likely have to upgrade our first rounder to do that.

Weidemann being out for most of the year makes it more likely that he slides to a late 1st round or 2nd round so should be able to wrangle it, presuming we rate him.

Yep, I was referring more to Schache for the first round. He's looking like he could go as early as top 5 at this stage.

Probably the best avaiable KPP in this years draft as it stands now.
Has all the attributes to become a very damaging AFL forward

We will have to Upgrade our 1st rounder to a Top 5 pick to get him

Hurry up draft day as i cant wait this long

Like others here I'm a big fan of trying to nab both Weideman and Schache.

McKay is also a decent option.

If we don't get either, I reckon an elite ball user and leader like Darcy Tucker or a creative mid sized forward like Agius are others to look at.

I reckon the further the season goes on Schache will go up the draft. I could see him going top 5

He's already being touted as top 5 by some. Unless some players really stand up during the national champs and go past him, I can't see him dropping too far.
