Hot damn
"The GIANTS have categorically rejected this request."

To be fair, even though I'm no fan of GWS, they're still within their rights to tell Freo to **** off given he's contracted for 2 more years. Will be interesting to see what happens. I note that the statement says his manager has enquired about a trade and doesn't mention the player himself.

But look at Betts. Why'd you want to play a player who will half ass it for 2 years until his contract is up?

Trade him now while his value is still high

Why did he bloody sign a contract extension until the end of 2017 then? If he was that keen on going back to WA he wouldn't have re-signed. It looks more like Freo have been sniffing around with their chequebook out.

Sets a very bad precedent to trade a contracted required player to his preferred state unless they are offered overs in trade or sincere personal reasons compel them to seek a trade.

Allowing players the security of a contract when it suits them but then trading them when they get a better offer elsewhere needs to be discouraged otherwise others will follow. Especially when they have more than a year left on their contract.

Its also important to note both West Coast and Fremantle are likely to have pick 18 this year and next year far from overs from what others have suggested as his value in trade.

The coach making him sub 3 (?) weeks in a row was probably the catalyst.
He has been good all year, Patton comes back and they bench him, why wouldn't you leave?

Leuenberger spoke with the Sydney Swans this week, but the ruckman will take his time to decide his future, with Greater Western Sydney and Fremantle among his other suitors.

Out-of-contract Swans speedster Lewis Jetta is still grappling with whether to re-sign or seek a move home to Western Australia. However, if Jetta does request a trade to be closer to family, it's believed he is leaning towards West Coast as his preferred new home.

Sorry my bad, he was sub twice and subbed off once but not consecutively. Still, he has been one of their most consistent players all year.
I guess that's also reflected in their refusing to part with him. It has the appearance from the outside that he and his management aren't exactly marching to the same tune.

Hard to tell but you would think that if his manager says we want a trade then McCarthy was OK with it.
Probably just trying to be a Hodge type good bloke and pretending he doesn't want to leave.

Weitering, Schake, Hopper, Parish, Curnow, Francis (he will be the Bontempelli of this year) are all better off this year. Then you have Kennedy, Mills, etc. Mills you are picking off 12 months ago. Would not shock me one bit if he is available at pick 10.
Hope so but I reckon there is more chance of him going top 5 than slipping into double figures - I also can't imagine Paul Roos would let him slip beyond them. I see the top 3 as a lock, besides I just can't see GC or Brisbane shitting the nest and bidding for another teams academy players. Then comes Essendon and they're definitely spiteful enough to nominate Hopper and Mills before taking the player they really want. Does anyone know how big the second round downgrade will cost if he does get called at 4. Would it be a downgrade or a complete loss of pick?
