Is Brodie and Cripps to much of the same player or are they quiet different?
Brodie can play an outside role as well. I see him as the perfect replacement for Murphy. If we get someone like Scrimshaw with him (massive if) then we would have the perfect clearance machine in Cripps, a gun all round on baller in Brodie and pure class in Scrimshaw.

What are the thoughts on J Atley 186cm 84kg inside mid
From everything that im seeing then Atley is a pure inside midfielder. Could be if we get him a bit later. Take the load off cripps

Rumour is that Hugh Mc will go at 1
Brisbane will take Mcgrath at 2
Freo will take Petrovski-seton at 3
(Hopefully bid on Bowes and make GCS take him)
GCS take bowes
Blues get Brodie

If that happens then we are laughing. Dead set gun and him and Cripps will rip teams a new A-hole!
If we trade pick 5 and Brodie slips I'll eat all my membership scarves.

Freo would be stupid to take SPS over Brodie - direct replacement for Mundy

Exactly !!!

If Brodie does slip it won't be down to us, one or two places at the max.

If someone makes a bid for Bowes, we've got the fourth live pick. Assuming McLuggage goes at 1, we only need Brodie to slip two places to get to us.

Depends whether Freo/Brisbane pick on talent or needs, and how much value they put on potentially picking a local kid.

Brisbane's midfield is loaded, they've got some quality young talls, but their ruck depth is looking a bit dicey. They may see English as a perfect partner for Stef Martin. They've also got plenty of inside ball winners as is, so if they want a mid someone like McGrath might appeal to them as a line-breaker with pace, and good leadership qualities.

Freo have a big hole in their forward line, depending on whether there's in-principle agreements in place with Hogan they might see Marshall as a better option than an inside mid. English could also feature here, with Sandilands very close to calling it a day. Then, of course, SPS as a local boy with a boatload of talent.

Ainsworth is a bit of an enigma, too, could well be a surprise early pick.

From what I've been able read he seems to have dropped out of the top 25-30. Maybe a chance with one of our 3rd round picks.

I could see Brisbane taking Ainsworth after bidding on Bowes with Freo then taking Petrevski-Seton or English.

McCluggage
Bowes
Ainsworth
Petrevski-Seton
Brodie or McGrath, take your pick.

It's for this reason I'd rather we only chase Marchbank and hang onto #5.

McLuggage will go to Essendon
Brisbane will bid on Bowes forcing GWS to match bids
Brisbane will take Marshall
Fremantle will take SPS
Carlton will take Brodie

At least thats what happens right before I wake up.
Sorry to intrude but the Lions won't take Marshall. We already have Schache, Hipwood, Freeman, Close and Walker in our young KPF stocks. The good news is I've heard we are into both Ainsworth and McGrath big time and there are strong rumours that Brodie is a flight risk so I doubt we'll go with him. I think the Bombers will select McCluggage, the Lions will select Ainsworth or McGrath(Or both if we get a PP), Dockers will go local with SPS or English. That just leaves the Suns before you. If a bid comes in for Bowes that would leave you guys with Brodie. If there is no bid, however, you'd have to hope the Suns have their sights set on someone else.

TL/DR I think there is a really strong chance Brodie slips to you guys.

That would be fantastic. Possibly trade for a few later second round picks and get him then. Would be a very handy player.

Cheers mate :) best news I have heard in a while... would love to get Brodie :D

Do you reckon that your mob would want to bid on Bowes?

I don't know.........I want all of them.

At this stage I'd like: 1. McCluggage 2. Brodie 3. McGrath 4. Petrevski-Seton 5. Ainsworth
That will probably change but wouldn't discount Scrimshaw or Marshall making the top five either.

I'd prefer:

1. McLuggage
2. Ainsworth
3. Brodie
4. McGrath
5. SPS

Not keen on Marshall so early. Anyone of the above 5 will be awesome though.

With the top 5-6 looking so good we simply cannot trade pick 5.
Totally agree. Trading in mature talent for high draft picks isn't the way to go at this point in our rebuild. Wait until we've stocked up on quality kids and are in the top 8, then we can bring in mature guns. Rabbit and the tortoise. No more short cuts and quick fixes. Do it right, do it patiently and build for SUSTAINED, LONG TERM success.

If sos trades away pick 5 then he is like all the recruiters gone before. We need a sustained period of quality kids by embracing the Draft. We have only started our rebuild and quick fixes are not an option. If we can nail this Draft and next year we are well on the way. Getting a gun 200 game midfielder is paramount as well as a forward & ruck. We selected jgm last year need to give him a chance. No good trading pick 5 for Marchbank who's body cannot be trusted or speculate players like Picken who hasn't shown much. Too big a gamble when you have the quality of the top 6 players in this Draft.

I'd trade pick 5 only if we received the pick they got from Collingwood in return. Something like pick 5 and 23 for Marchbank and the Collingwood pick, with maybe a swap of third rounders.

If we can see how valuable pick 5 could potentially be this year, I'm sure SOS does as well.
Also pick 5 doesn't really help GWS a great deal. The young talent they will be looking to bring into the club will be there academy kids.
Settlefield and Perryman are more pick 8-12 range.
GWS will most likely want a future pick for Marchbank, most likely our future 2nd rounder.

Future 2nd rounder for Marchbank
Touhy + Pick #40 to North for Pick #11 ( Puts Touhy at around Pick #20 in value)

Go to the draft with Pick #5, #11 and #23

Three top 25 picks.

Possibly something like:

#5 -> Brodie/Ainsworth/McGrath
#11 -> Venables/Scrimshaw
#23 -> Clarke/Kerr

Would be a pretty good result.
