Murdoch has been used as a pressure player but then people here complain that he's not getting enough of the ball. Likewise Varcoe last season.I really rated some of his efforts in the preseason game against Gold Coast, his repeat efforts were great. And same in the final game against the crows, think he caught a couple holding the ball with his explosive speed and great tackling technique. I definitely think he has more potential in this area than Motlop and Murdoch.
They only get positive reports here when they are being attacking and creative which coincides with a drop-off in their pressure act numbers.
Some players can do both- ie be attacking AND keep the pressure on- Selwood is one of these. Motlop improved in this area in the second half of this season. We seem to lack this type of player but I hope it's just inexperience from the young guys and that they will improve.
