Isn't Melksham more of a forward player?
Yeah but apparently the plan was to play him at half back. I don't think he's got a place anywhere on the team, I think the list turned out better than Goodwin thought and now he's stuck with the Milkshake.

TBH Id take Melksham over most of the players taken after that pick in the last draft. If it works great, if not, oh well!

There's a spot.

Big part of the gameplan is fresh legs off half back. He adds to it.

Pick 26 for Vickery? WTF
Much like us with Frawley it's not what the player is worth, but how much he is getting payed and he position to the team he is leaving. Frawley leaves a team with the worst defence = top pick for us. Vickery leaves a team that has struggled all season, 2nd round pick

Decent win for Richmond. They must be delighted Hawks wanted him.

apparently we are in for Grant Birchall what will it take to get it done?
That's not true at all. It was on the 3AW rumour file this morning that a Hawks player (who at the time was "refreshed") was saying he was off to Melbourne. The player is said to be aged 30-31 and played in Hawthorns four premierships. That has turned into people speculating it's Birchall (who's 28).

According to a person who is mates with his manager, the player is actually Lewis. A two year deal may be offered to him. He is signed with the Hawks until the end of next season though, so doubt this has any substance.

Seriously not sure why no interest in Dawes .. take out the fact he can't mark, jump, kick and handball plus Calf, Hamstrings and pea Heart problems .. surely he is the cream on top for a side (not Melbourne)
To be fair the one thing Dawes isn't is a pea heart.......

Richmond get pick 26 as compensation. All of a sudden, our pick is now pick 28.
And now Dildororo will want a future first rounder to get Hibberd.
But I insist that he is not difficult to deal with.

Anyone else bamboozled by the recruiting/trading decisions of Collingwood and Richmond? And to a lesser extent the Hawks?
I just want Geelong to **** up at some point

Collingwood seem to massively overestimate where their list is at. Think they believe they can bring in some players and seriously challenge in finals. I can't see it myself, but hey if it makes them feel better then they should go for it.

Well when your coaching job is on the line at years end, you might want to try and speed things up

All I can think re Pies in particular is that once you get away from the months of speculation and rumours of who is gettable - there is a far smaller market available then thought. Presumably C'wood have been putting out feelers for a far greater number of players, and Wells and Mayne were the available options.

For what its worth, I love Wells - think he's a great player (so long as on the park) and I probably rate what Mayne can bring more than some on BigFooty, though his best form hasn't been visible the past few years so looking like he might not get back there. But neither on their own or in combination seem a solution to the Pies issues, and I don't see this as icing for a flag or even likely to propel them to finals any more than not bringing in players. Maybe because they don't have a first round, plus their indifferent performances this year, they feel a need to look busy doing stuff - turning over their list etc. I dunno.
