With pick 49, the Washington Redskins are very excited to select- Carlos Watkins, Nose Tackle, Clemson.

Massive need for the Redskins and I think Watkins is the player they need to stuff the run and take a second offensive lineman to free up a DE to shoot for the QB. I think that the Redskins will struggle this year but the run defence can be an area of improvement and Watkins can be the guy.

Dolphins select.....

Fabian Moreau CB UCLA

USATSI_9919351_168380823_lowres-810x540.jpg

Moreau blazed at the combine, in all facets...broad jump, 40, 20 split, bench press, etc. However, at his pro-day he suffered a likely minor chest injury. No mind! He has all the physical attributes to compete in the NFL. He's tall, he's stocky (being a former RB) to handle bigger receivers, and he's quick and agile. He's only fairly new to defense, but the ceiling is high. He's already an accomplished man cover corner, tho he needs to work and learn his zone skills, reading better, and transitioning when in coverage. He'll give the Dolphins great service as a man specialist on the outside, locking down the opposition's top receiver, especially helpful in man blitz plays which will require excellent coverage on the outside.

Patrick Mahomes | QB | Texas Tech

maxresdefault.jpg

New York needs to get ready for life after Eli, and I think Maho is a decent get this late in the second round. I was tempted to go with another O linesman, but the potential and upside of young Patrick is too strong to ignore.

Paddy had a great year in his last year in college, passing for 5,052 yards (421 per game), 41 TDs, 10 interceptions with a 65.7 completion percentage, and he rushed for 285 yards and 12 TDs. While it wasn't the strongest opposition every game, and college does tend to make QBs look better than they might be, there is clearly talent there in this case.

Some significant downside, very raw - but a great chance to learn for a year or two behind Eli and then step up...

Needs to get fit and learn the NFL schemes (including holding up in the pocket under pressure).

See this vid for the downsides:

For the upsides:

Could he be the next Cam, or the next JaMarcus?? A bit of a reach, but I like his match with the Gmen's needs...

With the 56th pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, The Oakland Raiders select Teez Tabor, cornerback, Florida.

maxresdefault.jpg

A true ball hawk in every sense of the word. The past 3 years he's allowed just a 41.2 NFL passer rating against him. By comparison, the NFL rating for throwing an incomplete pass every down is 39.2. Will be a plug and play guy from day 1.

With Pick # 57 the HOUSTON TEXANS select :

Dalvin Tomlinson - DT - Alabama
6" 3'
310 lbs

untitledDav.png

With doubts surrounding Vince Wilfork the Texans need an up and coming run stuffer and with the top DT's already taken in this mock it was time we jumped on board and grabbed the next best available. Tomlinson, hailing out of the famed Crimson Tide D will team up with DJ Reader to hopefully fill a need at the position.

With the 58th pick in the 2017 Big Footy Mock Draft, the Seattle Seahawks select, Kevin King, CB, Washington.

I have other more pressing needs but there is nobody I like in those positions this high in the draft. Teams may pass on King due to being a bit lanky but Seattle loves those types of corners. He also has experience playing Safety which I think pushes him into 2nd round contention for the Seahawks.

Mad Prophet is on the clock.

With the 59th pick in the 2017 Big Footy Mock Draft, Kansas City select - Quincy Wilson, CB, Florida

The Chiefs have a star in Marcus Peters. With their second round pick they pick Wilson. A hard hitting CB, pairing these two will allow the Chiefsto have 3 of the 4 DB positions filled for the future.

Dixie Flatline and the Cowboys are on the clock

Cowboys select Taylor Moton - OT/OG - Western Michigan

636168092653858948-mac-120216-kd-27.jpg

Probably a bit of a reach (for the second pick running) by the Cowboys but the unexpected retirement of Doug Free leaves the Cowboys a bit thin on the right side of the line. In steps Taylor Moton to compete with Chaz Green to start at right tackle.

Moton joined Western Michigan after he was named a first-team all-Michigan pick as a high school senior. He redshirted in 2012 but started every game for four straight years for WMU, including all 25 games of the 2013 and 2014 seasons at right tackle. For 2015, Moton slid inside to right guard, receiving enough votes from MAC coaches to be named third-team all-conference. In 2016, Moton went back to right tackle, earning first team All-MAC and multiple All-American honours.

Measuring in at 6'5", 319lbs, Moton looks the part of an NFL calibre right tackle. His versatility (starts at both right tackle and right guard) appeals to the Cowboys as he'll compete first with Chaz Green and also with Zack Martin. Moton has the right level of nastiness to slow down passrushers and he won't be bullied by the speed rusher.

If the Cowboys see him long term as a guard, then he'll have to improve his technique for the position, given he had one year's experience starting there compared to three as right tackle. His footwork is a bit sloppy, as he tended to rely on his massive bulk to resist defenders.

With pick 61 the Packers select....
Chidobe Awuzie, CB, Colorado

Chidobe_Awuzie.jpg

With the injury problems and inconsistent play from the CBs last year the Packers pick up a great CB here. Has the size, speed and skills you look for in a CB being able to play inside and outside, press or off coverage. Lacking in ball skills though and an inconsistent tackler, but the upside is definitely there.

With pick 62 the Pittsburgh Steelers select, Zay Jones, wide receiver, East carolina.

The steelers second most dangerous receiver is their running back, they badly need to be able to spread the offense to challenge defenses.

Jones is a football player, holds ncaa records for most receptions, had over 1700 yards this season. Comes from great football blood with father and uncle playing the nfl.

There are queries about his straight line speed, but his 4.45 at the combine was a good showing. He is a very good catcher outside the hashmarks and plays in a mold like anquon boldin.

With the steelees likely getting Martavious Bryant back, adding Jones to the fold gives the Big Ben better options than last season.

With the 64th Pick in the NFL Draft the Carolina Panthers select Tarrell Basham DE Ohio State

The Panthers get the young edge rusher they so desperately need. An edge pass rusher that has a lethal combination of burst, dip, and power to get into the backfield. Had an excellent week at the Senior Bowl against top competition, validating the tape that he showed against MAC competition. High mover in the draft, could emerge as one of the top pass rushers in the draft.

With pick 67, Chicago Bears select Chris Wormley - 5T - Michigan

Michigan-Chris-Wormley-Trace-McSorley-Leon-Halip-Getty-DSC-1073_pxcgzg.jpg

The Bears continue to build up their defense, both on and off the field with this pick. The Bears lack depth on the defensive line behind NT Eddie Goldman and breakout star DE Akiem Hicks, with last years draft pick Johnathan Bullard yet to produce. Wormley is a bit of a polarising figure, with some believing him to be worthy of a 1st round pick, but others thinking him not to have a 3rd round value.

The positives to his game revolve around his strength and hand usage, as well as his work ethic and leadership skills. Wormley played out of position in college at 4-3 LDE which highlighted the fact that he is not a special athlete and lead to somewhat disappointing production.

Overall, I think Wormley will benefit from moving inside as a 3-4 DE in the Bears scheme and his leadership and mentality will help to further build up a positive culture (along with 1st round pick Jamal Adams) that team executives will love.

With the 68th pick in the NFL Draft the Jacksonville Jaguars select Bucky Hodges TE Virginia Tech

The Jaguars traded away Julius Thomas this off season so it seems right that they go early on a TE. Hodges will be a reliable target for Bortles.

Virginia+Tech+v+Duke+v9ag8lKqH23l.jpg

What makes Hodges special, however, is his raw combination of size, strength and athleticism. Hodges is a classic mismatch, towering over the defensive backs often asked to cover him and proving too fast for most linebackers. He accelerates smoothly off the snap, showing the agility, balance and strength to escape the jam and quickly get into his routes.

Hodges possesses rare speed for the position and tracks the ball well over his shoulder, making him an ideal threat down the seam. He shows zero hesitation in going over the middle, extending to collect difficult passes in traffic and is bullish after the catch, often dragging would-be tacklers yards downfield. Hodges shows vision and agility after the catch, as well, generating four 40+ yard plays over his first two seasons. His height and leaping ability make Hodges an especially difficult matchup in the red zone, where the Hokies often flanked him out and simply threw jump balls to him.
