With the 38th pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, The Seattle Seahawks select

Will McDonald IV - DE - Iowa State

USATSI_18807649.jpg

Edge pressure was something severely lacking in Seattle in 2022 and the Seahawks will be hoping Will McDonald the fourth will be able to reach the productivity of his junior season. From the same amount of tackles, McDonald had 6 more sacks (11 v 5) and 4 more forced fumbles (5 v 1) in 2021 compared to 2022 which would have seen him fall out of first round contention. In Iowa State's game against Texas the Longhorns showed that double teaming him severely drops his productivity and that is something McDonald is going to have to work through if he is going to be elite at the next level.

Chewy316 and the Raiders are on the clock

With the 39th pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, the Las Vegas Raiders select Drew Sanders, linebacker, Arkansas.

GettyImages-1431021897_Drew_Sanders_Arkansas_Wesley_Hitt_Getty_Images.jpg

The Raiders have not had any stability at the 2nd level of their defence for the better part of the last decade. Sanders is a plug and play day 1 starter in the middle of the defence, and it wouldn't be a stretch to give him the green dot from the get go. He will provide tremendous versatility from the inside linebacker position for defensive coordinator Patrick Graham, as he was still able to get 9.5 sacks this past season with the Razorbacks.

A11dAtP0w3R and the Chiefs are now on the clock.

Chiefs select Jalin Hyatt WR, Tennessee

Hyatt makes the most sense for the Chiefs out of just about all the WRs in this draft. With a roster full of plenty of underneath and slot types already,: Toney, Moore, Kelce a field stretcher to open up passing lanes for the play makers underneath is required. While MVS is good enough, he is also out of contract next year and doesnt have the speed on Hyatt. This is a perfect fit for the Chiefs offense.

Pick 42 Tennessee Titans select O'Cyrus Torrence, OG, Florida

The Titans lose alot of talent at O Line this season need to add best talent available. While tackle might be more pressing, with some talent off the board they select Torrence, one of the best guards in the draft.

Great size, important addition for the run game.

With pick 43, the New York Jets select Joe Tippmann - C - Wisconsin

T7AfvjBX_400x400.jpg

Tippmann started two seasons for the Badgers at centre. He is taller than usual for the position, but he shows sufficient flexibility to be able to neutralise interior pass rushers at the point of attack. He has the technique to make the necessary blocks to spring open the ball-carrier. He's recognised for his football intelligence and is an effective communicator with the ability to make calls and adjustments at the line of scrimmage when seeing the defence alignment. There are some things with his technique that he'll need to clean up, particularly if he is to take the starting job if and when Aaron Rodgers gets to New York.

With pick 44, the New York Jets select Mazi Smith - DT - Michigan

With pick 44, the New York Jets select Siaki Ika - DT - Baylor

usa_today_17242510.0.jpg

The Jets need some reinforcements on the defensive line after seeing nose tackle Sheldon Rankins signed with the Texans and rotational defensive tackle Nathan Shepherd signed with the Saints during free agency. Head coach Robert Saleh has brought the philosophy he developed while the defensive coordinator of the 49ers of having as many rotational pieces on the defensive line as he can manage, in order to keep the players fresh. While the Jets are negotiating a contract extension with star defensive lineman, Quinnen Williams, the Jets will still need to keep the production line stocked with new talent.

The Jets view Ika as a potential Rankins replacement, as he has the size and girth to play as an even front nose tackle, but also offers some upside as an interior pass rusher if the opponent attempts to block him one-on-one. At least to start with, however, the Jets will likely use him in more obvious running downs in order to clog up rushing lanes and to help stiffen the Jets' defensive line against the run. He's not without his flaws, as he will need to manage his weight and maintain it at a consistent level in order to maximise his potential on-field. But the Jets see him as part of a defensive line rotation that is intended to keep the offensive line of the opponent off-balance as much as often.

Pick 45, the Atlanta Falcons select Tuli Tuipolotu, DE, USC

Beast of a human who has room to grow. Versatile enough to line up anywhere along the line, and has a year to learn his craft behind Grady Jarrett and Calais Campbell.

Pick 47. New England :nflpatriots: select.

Darnell Washington. TE Georgia

images-3.jpg

Patriots need to back in Mac Jones and make his job easier, Bill O'Brien will tactically help that effort so as a former master of having devised the ploy of double teamed pairings of TE's in Gronk and Hernandez, BO'B has found a good pairing for Hunter Henry with Washington.
He is a good blocker and he will assist The Patriots with their run game.

:nflredskins:ROUND 2 : PICK 48 : WASHINGTON COMMANDERS :nflredskins:

CAM SMITH, DB, SOUTH CAROLINA

In a deep draft for DBs, it's good to need one in this draft and the Commanders certainly need one (or two).

Smith is an intelligent player with good instincts, who can play inside or outside. He has a lot of the physical tools that should make him an asset to any teams defensive backfield and the Commanders would be hoping he'd be a mainstay for years to come.
While Smith has scouted weaknesses in supporting the run, being susceptible to penalties and double moves, most teams would believe they can coach those out of him and will back his instincts.

drd23 and the Lions are up

The Lions select Luke Musgrave, TE, Oregon State

1352788216.0.jpg

After trading away TJ Hockenson last year, TE is an obvious spot on offense that could use an infusion of talent so the Lions select a highly talented option here in the second round. Musgrave mostly played in the slot in college where he showed good route running and great top end speed, but also showed the ability and desire in blocking, plus a suitable frame to also be a in-line TE. He is a great athlete who only managed to play 20 games in college due to injuries, so this is a bit of a risk but thanks to the extra draft capital the Lions have this year I think it is one worth taking

andana and the Steelers are up now

With the 53rd pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, The Seattle Seahawks select

Steve Avila - G - TCU

i

This was a tough one to select. On the one hand the Seahawks need as much defensive help as possible (free agency has helped this to a certain degree) but on the other hand the chance to add another O-Lineman and come away with two defensive and offensive linemen in the first two rounds was tough to pass up. Avila has experience at center as well so can fill in there if needed.

Constantgin and the Bears are OTC.

With 54 pick The Chicago Bears Select Luke Wypher C, Ohio State

This draft is all about improving the Oline to help Fields succeed. Wypler is a polished technician. He operates under control, stays square, and competes to stay leveraged while fitting his hands. Demonstrating a clear understanding of angles, Wypler is effective in his pass sets to put himself in position to frame blocks while also winning in space. I love his ability to execute longer pulls and climb to the second level. Needs to add strength cause currently wins with technique and not strength but that can be fix.

catters078 and Chargers are OTC

The LA Chargers select Nathaniel Dell, WR Houston

Lead the national in receiving yards (1398) and touchdowns (17) and 2nd in receptions (109). Dell knows how to get open, has great speed and runs sharp routes.

In the Chargers offense with focus on Keenan Allen and Mike Williams, Dell is likely to have opportunity to face alot of single coverage and zone reads and show his skill being open on short to intermediate routes.

While undersized at 5-9 and Didn't display amazing speed at the combine (4.49 speed) but has shown alot on tape. His measurables replicate Devonta Smith and will get a chance to demonstrate in a potentially high powered offense.

Digging a little deeper on his tape (which was great last year) he had back to back 150 yard games against Cincinatti (CFP semi finalist) and Auburn in 2021. So he has produced against strong college level defensive players.

The Lions select Kelee Ringo, CB, Georgia

r1085230_1296x518_5-2.jpg

After really making his name in 2021, especially with his pick 6 at the end of the 2022 National Championship game, Ringo was widely expected before the 2022 season to continue his good form and cement himself as a top 10 pick in this draft. However his inconsistent play where his raw technique and tight hips led him get burnt by double moves/change of direction skills of twitchy receivers means that he is now thought of as a early-mid 2nd round pick. That said, I am sure the Lions would love to select a CB with the sort of man coverage skills that Ringo has displayed and the potential to improve he displays

BeinPurplenGreen OTC with the Jags

With pick 57 the Jaguarsssssss select LSU wide receiver Kayshon Boutte.

Kayshon-Boutte-WR-LSU-NFL-Draft-Scouting-Report.jpg

Kayshon Boutte | WR | LSU
Pros:
Decent size for the position.
He is a dangerous threat with the ball in his hands.
Sees the field well and exploits open space with ease.
Speed is plus level with good second gear to stretch the field vertically and horizontally.
Stop and start ability on hitch and comeback routes is high level.
Body control on the boundary projects well.
Has a 300-yard game to his name back in his first year.
He presents a nice target against zone coverage, quickly flashing his chest back to the quarterback.
He has seen a lot of screen and jet sweep plays with a lot of success, showing dynamic playmaking ability in the process.

Cons:
Physicality is lacking in every phase of the game.
Blocking is not an option.
Simple route tree at LSU.
Doesn’t break a lot of tackles but changes the angular pursuit with speed, causing missed tackles.
He is an inconsistent hands catcher with concentration drops all over his tape.
Doesn’t extend outside of his framework to make catches reliably enough.
Needs free releases due to a lack of explosiveness off of the snap.
Hand fighting technique and power to separate are lacking.
Effort level is inconsistent.
Off-field red flags.

Draft Scouting Report:

Rating: 85.72 (Long-term starter)

Pro Comparison: Reche Caldwell

Summary:

Kayshon Boutte has good top-end speed and is capable of reaching it quickly. He is physical through his routes but can do a better job of completing contested-catch situations. Boutte has strong hands and a knack for sitting in the soft spots of zone.
