2017 Fixture

So much for the fixturing formula. We play 3 top 8 teams twice? All in all, is as good as we could hope for.
Geez a double gimme like Brissy would be nice though.

I'm happy with it. Not sure why we play three teams who finished in the top 8 twice though.

That said, Geelong at Simmonds has historic value for us and I'm excited for it. And North are going to be bottom 4 this year.

Good to see mayney will play us back at domain should get a good reception from the crowd like crowley did even though he gets hammered pillar to post by some

I'n actually not that unhappy with it.
I don't think having Sydney and the Bulldogs in, what is it, about 15 Friday night games is all that entertaining, but hey some people like watching re-runs. It's just a silly thing to do, Fridays should be spread around a little.

As for our fixture... about as good as we're ever going to get from the AFL I suppose. A few annoying little things regarding being a bottom four side and not getting treated as well as other bottom four sides, but I don't mind that because we're not going to be a bottom four side for much longer anyway.
Right? Right.

The worst is also reporting dockers easy west coast harder..please we play 11 games against last years top 8 the eagles play 9...west bulldogs play 11 as well...

Away derby first this year. Wonder if that means we will get the home derby first at the new stadium?

No games to Darwin, Alice Springs, Good Coast, Tasmania, China, Ballarat, Canberra... that's good.
2 early games at the MCG against Richmond and Melbourne. Not bad.
2 away games in Sydney in 3 weeks late in the season. Not so good.

Up to Lyon and his team to hit the season in good form and get some momentum.

Formula has the ladder broken into top, middle and bottom 6. We double up against one top 6, two middle 6 and two bottom 6.

That's about right. The eagles shitting the bed in their final removed the chance for us to just have them twice of the top 6 teams.

Don't mind our draw though.

So when we said we want more games in Melbourne the AFL gives us a Geevegas game.

Don't get me wrong I like the trip down there, but still another game in Melbourne would have been nice.

Don't mind the round 23 game being away with the first week before the finals bye.
At least we don't have any 5 day breaks (s******).

I thought as we finished bottom six we were only supposed to get a return visit against a top 6 side "minimum 0 maximum 1" that should have been the Eagles. Then they go and give us Geelong as well.

AFL hate us. They go and break their own published fixturing format just to stiff us!

It should read fixturing rules explained until it suits us.

WCE finished 7th after finals.

Negatives

- No Friday (or Thursday) night game; doesn't every team get at least 1? Not too fazed actually.
- Despite the 'predicted form' of opposition teams next year, we are still playing three teams who played finals this year twice. In reality Essendon's our only pity pick.

Positives

- Travel is the major winner here; no Darwin's, no Launceston's, no Canberra's, no Surfer's Paradise. Still have two trips to NSW but probably couldn't be avoided.
- Limited 6-day breaks

Ultimately it's a clean slate here and there's no reason why we can't improve upon last year with this fixture.

Not unhappy with the draw. A good balance of games against teams similar quality to our list, two games at the MCG, no Tassie, no Darwin, not too many 6 day breaks. Niiiiiiccccceeeee!!!!

Who's coming to Melbourne April 15 vs Dees and/or Sydney August 12 vs Swannies?

Good draw I reckon. Ironically our lack of Friday/Thursday games contributes to having fewer 6 day breaks!

That lack of home games between Round 11 (June 4) and 15 (July 2) is a bit annoying though. Only one home game in all of June.
