Having had the laparoscopic no way in hell i would be able to play any physical contact sport two weeks later. We need to give him much longer off and aim to bring him back for the final round to gain some touch before finals.
Some kid named Jack Henry at Geelong had 2 weeks on the injury list for appendix removal. Round 11 1-2 weeks, Round 12 test, Round 13 off the list.

will be out for a few weeks at least, whats the normal recovery on appendicitis, 4 weeks??
Depends. If it was keyhole surgery 1 to 2 weeks probably. If they had to cut him open lots

keen to see Troy get another crack at some stage but what's his form like atm? didn't see him mentioned at all in the SANFL match report...
Form is sheizzen houssen, Milera if right playing the small forward role he played effectively U18 and SANFL is more or less like for like if he lifts his defensive pressure.

not this week . he had surgery. he will miss this week but hopefully play the showdown. Doc Larkins said he wont play this week and will be 50/50 for showdown
Well if doc larkins said it. ....

Don't bother him and his family in the hospital? There are a lot of people who think they are entitled to do autographs / photographs at any time.
A lot of people are idiots.

I guess that make sense but just found the wording odd. It's usually used under more serious circumstances.

A "plodder" that's averaged 29 disposals since being recalled in round 15 and been in their bests 3 of those games. Three of those games against contenders Adelaide, Melbourne and the Western Bulldogs.

All the Carlton supporters I know have dubbed him "hot potato" for the lack of quality of those disposals.

I'd be surprised to see him on their list next year.

His 71.2 % DE for a midfielder in his 6 AFL games this year is better than the average for a mid....just sayin

Definitely Appendix op of the week but could be in line for The AstraZeneca Appendisitis operation of the year.

What's with the "The Club asks that the privacy of the Betts family be respected at this time." ?

Because you know if you asked Betts to go out to the hospital car park for a kick to kick, he probably would

Just as things start to click and get all rosey we get hit with Betts & B Crouch out...

Better now, then first week of finals.

Plus it's not like we're facing teams that we need both firing just yet. Collingwood, Port and Essendon are all teams we should account for without either.

On the Keeridge thing, every blues supporter I know can't stand him. Hey reckon he is the worst mid in the league. I think he might be a case where stats do not tell the true story.

Nah it's keyhole, snip and stitch. He will only need two weeks so he will miss one match.

I thought the same. I think the Club will give him time to fully heal. If it was a final he would imo.

I think we can be guided by the Tom Lynch viral meningitis: few days in hospital, back playing in 2 weeks.
Seems to me from the footage, Betts seems to be pretty alert and comfortable. He also seems confident in saying "miss this week, be back the next". So we can probably conclude it was the lesser of 2 evils - keyhole surgery. Likely he will front up for the Port game Round 20.

Crouch having depressed skull fracture I would say he'll need a couple of weeks for the bone to heal. Hopefully a return in Round 20, like Betts.

He doesn't need hundreds of visitors to visit him in hospital...

I'll add further that after surgery, you need a few days of genuine rest, meaning less talking or body movements, as it can stir the surgical wounds. So hungry photo-loving fans, stay the hell out of Eddie's room for the next few days!

They're like flies to you know what our fans when it comes to the players.

Yeah I found that strange too. It was like there was a death in the family. Someone used a template media release document and left that in by mistake, perhaps.
