Hmmmm......what an interesting question.
I particularly like the use of brackets for the word 'ever'. It makes it a lot more than just 'never'.
It's so not black and white. Yet the question has been asked of Black_White.
Maybe one for the Nathan Freeman thread.
Inevitably the off shoot of threads bud and blossom in the Freeman thread.

Rightly so.

Black White is at times a misunderstood figure.

Just another part of the rich tapestry that is big footy (in all its glory and silliness)

Brett Anderson's latest draft rankings:

1 Adam Cerra

2 Cameron Rayner

3 Paddy Dow

4 Luke Davies Uniake

5 Aaron Naughton

6 Jarrod Brander (Collingwood)

7 Nick Coffield

8 Jayden Stephen

9 Sam Hayes

10 Darcy Fogerty

I have a funny feeling we won't be part of the first round this year. Suspect we will either trade it for a player (Lever?) or trade into next years draft.

What do you think we will do?
What would you do?

Glad to not see Lochie O'Brien being rated in there and hopefully not to early. Kid is the best kick in the draft and coupled with his vision and ability to see the best option then it hit would be an awesome addition to the side! Our forwards would love leading for him cause they know it's gonna hit them square on the chest! Still reckon we need a mid teens - early 20 pick for him but there's always hope, i.e Grundy 2012.

Cerra at 1? Someone please sell me on this guy. I don't see how he's on the same level as Dow or LDU, let alone Rayner

Oozes class for mine. Wasnt surprised I think he could well be the # 1 pick come draft day. Rayner got a couple of issues for mine that may hold him back. Cerra just has so much time, space and is a really good user / decision maker. Rayner and Cerra certainly my two best but Stephenson not far off.

If we retain our current pick 6 then any of the players ranked 5-7 would do me.

Like many I like the sound of Balta also but pick 6 would appear a bit of a reach for him.

Depends if we draft best available or we draft based off needs.

Remember Jake Lever went 14 in his draft year, yet 3 years later he's worth Pick 6 and steak knives.

I would have no problems taking Balta at 6 instead of taking a highly rated midfielder.

If we end up with pick 5 or 6 then it's looking very much like CFC could possibly draft Brander, Fogarty or Ballendan. Wow, that would be fantastic!

I am leaning towards Brander but Fogarty is 7 months younger and just like the Incredible Hulk. Very hard to split. Ballendan will also go very high, Brisbane will have a fantastic spine.

Imagine Fogarty rotating with De Goey through the middle and forward pocket. That would scare any team. That's like Port Adelaide having two Ollie Wines. Just quietly Wines playing this week is a load sheep manure!

If that's the case I don't want him. We need a key forward, not a goal kicking mid.
From what I have seen Fogarty's scope to play midfield is low ATM. He's played better footy up forward and even down back. I can see him coming in and playing a forward role if we decide to take him.

I wouldn't be surprised if we were looking at Naughton because we're also critically thin down back in the KPF spots - outside the bubble over in WA but he looks good as a Jake Lever type (and he's doing the business at senior level).

Only potentially worrisome issue is the homesickness factor.

I really like the look of him too. He's rocketing up the draft board. Who know maybe Freo will take the local lad at 5. The go home factor would be the only thing that would worry me spending such an early pick on him. But eh, could be totally worth it.

Unlikely considering they just drafted Logue last year

Another player that might be hanging around the boards late for us is Ed Richards. Grandson of Ron Richards, brother of Lou. 184cm mid/def with an elite left foot and a turn of pace who has been turning heads at Carey and Oakleigh. Was also invited to the draft combine alongside Tyler Brown.

Neat skills out of the back line and a turn of pace coupled with a hard edge, could he just turn out to be that small defender we've been looking for?
