It's possible - the "logical" choice for them would have been Naughton, but iof they're going to get pick 2 and take a midfielder to replace Weller then it's possible that they could address the ruck position with pick 5.

Surely they won't get pick 2 for Weller. If they do, they'll probably have to hand back pick 5.

I doubt it - Weller is one of their best kids and is just starting to come good, so pick 2 straight up would be close to the mark imo.

It was an ambit claim they won’t get 2 for him. Depending on the shuffle the best they’ll do is Matera and Wilson plus a second round selection.

They aren’t getting pick 2 straight up for Weller. The kid is class, but he’s not quite that valuable, even contracted. Probably worth around 10ish. Pick 5 would definitely have to come back if 2 was involved.

What do you make of the talk from a couple weeks ago about Rayner possibly sliding due to having a poor engine? Might slide past Carlton to the Roos? Or just rubbish?

I doubt it. The only reason Blues would overlook him is if they wanted to go pure inside mid. Roos leaning more towards outside or X-factor anyway given their one strength is inside mids, so probably more your Stephenson/Coffield/Cerra.

Every club has known for the year Rayner has a poor tank, it's not like it's suddenly popped up though.

The way it is at the moment, I think the draft looks like:

1 Brisbane - Dow/Davies-Uniacke
2 Gold Coast - Dow/Davies-Uniacke/Rayner
3 Carlton - Dow/Davies-Uniacke/Rayner
they will be the top three in some order. Rayner won't be a Lion though, can confirm from a source

If by some chance Carlton go early on Cerra, Brayshaw or Coffield, North will pick up the last scrap of the above three. Forget LDU, Dow and Rayner because none are coming.

Fremantle will take a midfielder too, so Brayshaw or Coffield might be off the table at 6.

Also can confirm Balta is on the slide after some dumb antics at school in addition to some other off-field shenanigans. Might be in the calculations for 38 but the tough board might decide against picking up a party boy, even at a later pick like 38. I wouldn't cross my fingers on him.

Ah, didn't know that, I only heard it this morning.

So I was told there are 5 top mids and it is likely one will drop out and we will pounce, the likely one is Stephenson (sp?)

Cerra or Stephenson. But we've been keen on Coffield from the start. I think we overlook Stephenson if available, but if Cerra's there it might be a different story as no-one expected him to be there at #6.

I don't know enough about them, but the person who passed the rumour on to me said we would take any of the top 5 that have been mentioned if any one of them dropped out. Apparently all 5 are exceptionally talented

Haven't heard that truth/rumour. If anything I think we couldn't afford to have another questionable kick in our team regardless of upside would be more the case I'd imagine.

I thought Cerra could play forward. He kicked 3.5 in one half this year?

Do you reckon clubs would be even more wary of him than what they were of Darling? Cause where I'm sitting I'd be very happy taking him if he's there at 38.

There's a clear cut top 5 and not much between 6-15.davies-uniacke, dow, rayner, cerra and stephenson.we just hope one slides to 6 and we pounce even if we do need kp players.

Fogarty should be in that mix he played through the champs with a meniscus tear. No wonder he appeared to labour its a wonder he played at all tbh.
