Maybe you need to have a look at Ports results. Except for the odd game, they weren't scored heavily against and that happens to all teams.

Go have a look, you might want to correct your opinion.
Round 1 an extremely undermanned Sydney got 81

Then we got 100
GWS 112
WCE 97
Us again 130

Sides with good forward lines score heavily on them.

All of the top eight sides scored at least 80 points on them.

Their average against is offset by the Hawks, Gold Coast and Carlton all.scoring less than 50. Gold Coast played them twice for a total of 58 points against them for the two games.

Interesting to note the Lions got 81 points against them. As bad as they are they could still put up 80+ points against Ports defence.

The offer that Ditmar is spruiking has Kern as one of the highest paid coaches in the game.

A guy who has had two good seasons out of five. Is currently coaching a side that did not beat a top eight side all season.

If GC are offering that much coin they are poorly managed. And I don't believe Mark Evans, an AFL plant to fix them up, would do this.

It's like there's some magic force field preventing the Gold Coast from ever being a good place for sporting teams
Not a good place for young cashed up blokes to live....

Plus there is not really a culture of attending sporting events there.

My theory is that its a transient city. A lot of people will move to gold coast to work sjot term or for the party atmosphere but they lack a lot of core long term residents that will be born and bred supporters.

But again, none of this explains why the Suns are devoid of good leadership and good decision making.

Their list management is awful, particularly during their startup period; they've had some terrible coaches; their fitness staff are no good; etc.

That doesn't explain why they'd hire Ken Hinkley
They wont.

It is PR from Port to make their supporters think he is in demand when they extend his contract.

Like Pittard when he re-signed with Rucci talking about multiple offers and numpties like OneGreatRalph and Janus believed it and parroted this to us.....

Same tactic. Leaders of a cult know they can easily manipulate their followers

Poor cultural set up. It was a party with no leadership, direction and expectations. The AFL really didn't oversee GC as closely as it should have in the early days. Having said this though, Fremantle have yet to achieve anything either. GC will get better over time.

This is why Mark Evans has been sent up there. Fix the club.

3 games with 100 or more, wow that's scoring heavily Geoff.

Nooooooo!!!

Quite the opposite. No.2's are often no.2 for a reason
Phil Walsh was a no.2 before being no.1

Ditto Pyke.

I reckon Sando is a natural no.2. Ditto Hinkley.

Much cheaper and more streamlined if you just find a decent no.1 who doesn't need their hand held

It doesn't matter if hinkley stays or goes their list won't be seeing success, im leaning towards him going as it feels like they're his playing group and he'd leave them for the cash lol

I think Bassett will struggle with modern AFL coaching/tactics

His mid 2000s mega flood was not effective against good teams thus year. Made their raw defensive stats look good as poor teams struggle with it. But good teams always to find a way through and it limits their own scoring chances.

Rest assured even if Kern does leave, we should still get 8 Premiershiop Points from them.

Nah, he's been in the system.a while now. He's no idiot, he would have learnt a few things.

WTF is wrong with them?

I left out the 130 Essendon scored against them. Maybe saying scored heavily was too strong a term.

But good sides get past their mid 2000s flood to post a winning score.

In terms of average points against them.

Teams that played Finals averaged 96.6 against them.
Bottom 10 teams averaged 57.16 against them.

If Ken had half a brain, he would abandon the sinking ship and go to the Suns and do a Ross Lyon.

He would be safe in his job for a solid 3 years at the Suns. At the Power, the heat will be on him if they have a tough draw in 2018 to begin with.

I am not sure which would be better. This dragging out and Port left to pick up the pieces and attempt to find a replacement coach, or Ken staying. Is it possible that they could do worse than Ken ??

Would laugh if it was true. He goes up there and the Suns beat them in Shanghai.

And how would Mr Gui feel about working with an organisation that can't keep a contracted staff member. A key staff member at that and losing them to a rival.

Much face to be lost, there is.. .....

that's OK isn't it? One more to get to two strikes and then we'll never hear another word about it.
Depends if he is in control of his problem... because if he isn't, sadly he may become the next Yarran.

Dittmar on Triple M this morning saying Gold Coast have offered Hinkley a 5 year $3M deal and he's more likely to take it than not.
Buggar, how could Gold Coast do this to us...

I was looking forward to Kochie handing out that extension.
