The slide began against Fremantle (the side that Geelong beat by 130 points) and they had no Fyfe and no Sandilands and are bang average but our players just sat back and took it.
That is the Burgess philosophy.
Fast & lean players.
We have the lean but not the fast.
EG Wingard was not allowed to lift weights when he was first drafted.

The How: we failed to develop a list with suitable fallback options in key positions
The Why: because we focus more on the Boystown mantra of 'turning boys into men" than actually playing football
Stop collecting failed top ten draft picks, get in players based on need, shuffle off our serial underperformers.
Get in Schofield and a goal kicking coach. (stop being so ******* lame and talk to that right wing loony. he gets results)
We're stuck with Ken but the message is clear; fix it quickly.

On top of a few thing, We were seriously cooked this year. Watch our pressure, speed and hardness in the Sydney game. It got worse throughout the season to a point where it tipped.
The early bye didn't help. But also the wet weather games. I feel like we played more than usual (surely this taints our clearance for and against numbers). Also out bottled over defensive game plan.
How to solve this? Faster players = less combative game style. Better endurance = more running = creating more space.
Some of Our best runners didn't play this year - Amon/Barry. Ebert and Boak used to be gut running kings.
We only need a few brutes. Wines/SPP/Rocky/Dixon and Jonas/Clurey is enough.
