Confirmation bias at its very best

The only time in the entire year some people said Carlton were premiership favorites was after you beat Collingwood very early in the season.

From there it was a downhill ride to s**t. No one thought Carlton would win the flag before the season, and no one thought that during most of the season either.

Maybe as a Carlton supporter you thought you were favorites but lol if anyone else thought that for any serious amount of time

But I guess congratulations. With that list you managed an April "premiership favorites". That'll go nicely in the trophy cabinet

Still waiting...
Out of that list you provided of Carlton players there are bnf winners, coleman medallist, AFLCA winner etc etc...
You've heard of Patrick Dangerfield?

And I didn't provide any list of Carlton players, so I think you're a bit confused.

Yeah it's like saying Port Adelaide were premiership favorites - only if you were a moron who doesn't watch the games.

People who actually follow the football did not have Carlton as premiership favorites in 2012:

Collingwood $3.50
Geelong $4.00
Hawthorn $7.50
Carlton $10
West Coast $11
Fremantle $17
Essendon $21
Stkilda $21
Western Bulldogs $26
North Melbourne $26
Sydney $34
Adelaide $41
Melbourne $51
Brisbane $67
Richmond $67
Gold Coast $126
Port Adelaide $126
Greater Western Sydney $501

4th according to the bookies.

Yep. Lines up with what people in the thread were saying. Hawthorn/Collingwood/Geelong the actual favorites

Spoiler: get on Hawthorn. The bald headed flog will get them over the line.

What date was that list gained?
You do understand favouritism does change through the course of a year?
A bit like your Melbourne being favourite at the start of this year...then things happen. Like games, injuries etc.

That was early - October 2011. This article from March 2012 has them 5th:

I didn't realise when Geoff said "Premiership Favourites in 2012" that there was a specific 2 minute window he was referring to.

Also Crows fans, apparently big things are expected from Kurt Tippett in 2012!

You are seriously delusional. fu** me. And I thought our supporters were f’ed.

You do realise Carlton have played between 9-10 players aged 21 or under in almost every game this year and have won 5 and lost 4 by under a kick. Anyone with half a clue can see where Carlton are going.

We had five players break the magical 50 game barrier this year and are set to have another 6 do so next year, as well as any other experienced players who may be traded in.

This team is going to demolish sides like the crows as early as next year.

We fail quickly then start again until we find the right formula for SUCCESS.
Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha

Why the * would we realise that. No one cares.

Is patting yourselves on the back for being a premiership favorite in a few people's eyes for a few seconds 7 years ago why Carlton are so unsuccessful?
Narrator: the favourites finished 10th, but it is still a highlight they refer back to 7 years later.

Google ‘confirmation bias’
What was the date when you were favourites then? More likely to be availability bias, as there seems to be a hell of a lot more time that Carlton were not favourites.

Meanwhile, Adelaide who had been tipped to finish 14th, were one kick away from a Grand Final.
* that bald flog campaignering cockwombling numbnut!!

since the start of this millenium, total games won by both clubs
CROWS have won a total of 258 games out of 459 total games = 56% all games won
CARLTON have won a total of 163 out of 446 total games = 36% all games won

That is nearly 100 more wins to Adelaide over the same period or an average of 5 more wins per season.

EDIT: A fun fact for Grotto to add to his list

Article on the AFL site has clubs “risers and sliders”. Apparently the cows big improver is CEY who has burst into the AFL top 200 players!. Such upside.

Nominated Gibbs as the slider but OMG that must have been the mother of all raffles.

This is a great example of someone losing an argument and having to twist the context of what their opponent is stating to somehow in only their own ‘collective mind’ manufacture a perceived win. Sad really.
