Semi final Megacast info

Alternate Presentations (all available on the ESPN App):

  • Command Center (ESPN2): A multi-angle presentation, which includes up to four different vantage points at any one time, with statistics and real-time drive charts supplementing the game action.
  • Skycast (ESPNU): The popular view from above the action and behind the offense on most plays. This unique angle has long been one of ESPN’s alternate viewing options and is readily available on multiple games every week. New this year, replays will be shown regularly throughout the presentation.
  • DataCenter (ESPNEWS): A perfect catch-all viewing option, as ESPN’s main telecast will be surrounded by real-time stats, analytics, social media commentary and player information.
  • All-22 (ESPN App): Watch the game the same way players and coaches study film, with a vantage point high above the field of play. The angle allows for the 22 players on the field to be seen at all times, providing the ability to distinguish how plays develop.
New Year’s Six Slated for Several Alternate Presentations
Both Command Center and Skycast will also be available on the ESPN App for the Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic, Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl, Playstation Fiesta Bowl and Capital One Orange Bowl, as ESPN provides multi-platform presentations for the New Year’s Six bowls. Additionally, the Command Center and Skycast for the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl will be simulcast on ESPN2 and ESPNU, respectively.

Sadly no megacast on TV for us, but there is a megacast coverage for the National Championship game.
But you can always watch them on WatchESPN

Will any of these Bowl games beside the CFP ones be worth watching?
the match ups will be announced in a few hours. but a few bowls are expected to be called off. i think Military bowl is one.

But given how bowls have been treated the last few years and the pandemic. i dont think any including the playoffs are really anything more than schools whoring out.

Would love nothing more than for every game to be a great contest. but given covid, cross country travel and no pre bowl activities. its just a Week 17 neutral site game for most. Hell a couple of Sun Belt teams and BYU were asked about playing in a 2nd bowl game to fill the spots and declined for logistical reasons.

ND only drop to 4 and Alabama open as 20 point favorites against them. I think they will cover easily.

Dirty Bird sorry but Boise opted out of a Bowl game, ending the streak. [unless we dont count this year]

This is what bowls have become, its all about the SEC and ACC [Big10 most years too] having strong ties to bowls preventing good teams from playing for losing teams from those conferences, which has caused more bowls to start to get those G5 teams games and then P5 schools see more bowls made and make another one. rinse and repeat

SEC has 6 teams with a losing record going to bowls.
Arkansas 3-7
Kentucky 4-6
Miss St 3-7
Ole Miss 4-5
Tennessee 3-7
South Carolina 2-8

And 9-2 Army doesnt get a bowl. because the bowl they accepted a bid to was canceled.

It’ll take 20 years before the NCAA do anything g that remotely looks like change. Then another 10 to implement it.
If COVID was still a problem throughout next season, it might hurry things along.

i think if ESPN wanted an expanded playoff they could push hard enough to make it happen.

It doesnt help that there are so many semi-final blow outs. and there will be another one this year by letting ND in again. I could see both semis being a blow out.

This season could be the one actually.

So many teams opting out shows to the people that colleges dont really care.

So why should the people care?

Hopefully the ratings are terrible this year for everything but the playoff.

There was talk mid year when the Big12, Pac-12 and Big10 opted out of starting late August about expanding playoffs, but declined to go for it. i think the CFP was ok with it. it was either 6 or 8 teams.

There were so many ideas thrown around, but i think when the Pac-12 announced they were looking into a Jan/Feb start they went away. then the Big12/10 folded and came back.

Who knows how the TV stuff is going to happen with the FCS and others who are looking at a Fall season, like will they be on main ESPN or put on CBSSN/ESPNU/ESPN+ and other smaller places. Might depend on how basketball goes with talk of a May madness.

Firstly, ND making the 4 after the Clemson blow out is a disgrace, and is the biggest indictment we have on this shitshow of a season.

It's an interesting discussion on bowls. I think I probably bring a slightly different perspective, in that I've only really been into college ball for 10-11 years. In that time I think we've taught that most of the bowls are insignificant - they're a reward for the players, a celebration of the seniors, and you might get a good game of it.

This is particularly the case with the pre-Christmas bowl games; the post-Christmas games you have slightly higher hopes for cos they feature better teams, then you get to the NY 5/now 6, which are the only ones that we've been taught really matter.

Two teams wins should never be eligible. A 9-2 team should always get a bowl. But isn't that kind of the risk you take being independent? Would Notre Dame be top 4 this season if they hadn't played an ACC schedule?

Tennessee out of their bowl because of Covid issues. Why even accept a bid then?
but because of bowl ties schools like 0-9 Vanderbilt have to be offered the spot before 9-2 Army can get asked.

I feel so bad for the kids at UAB. i think South Carolina or the SEC should be forced to buy them out of the game after forcing their way into the game. or at least the Bowl pays UAB but not South Carolina.

I wonder if Dax Milne gets a shot in the NFL as a slot reciever. I like him. Great hands, seems like he runs good routes.
