His gut feel is usually right about these things

Leons that is.

Hello from the west. Just wanting to ask a legit question to Giants fans in the know, not trying to s**t stir.
Is there any interest in trading Bobby Hill to WC? How's he going in NSW and what would you guys consider an equitable trade?

Cheers gents

Why would we be interested in trading Hill?
Kid grew up wearing a Giants jumper... in Western Australia! - and he’s already signed an extension to 2022. He’s exactly where he wants to be.

So there’s no point talking about an equitable trade because there’s not going to be a trade.

We have a few on our squad who grew up supporting us now.
Hill, Briggs, Perryman and Ash was half a fan as well.
Briggs definitely makes sense, he was just up the road from us. Perryman too, in our zone. Ash is a surprise as well.

I think you'll find that most GWS fans are pretty bullish about Bobby, and I believe the club are as well. The fact that he's so light means he does need a bit of time and work to strengthen his core, and obviously this year without real twos games makes it more difficult for him. But he was pretty exciting in the several games he played last season. Can't judge anything on this year. Zac Langdon's not doing a lot in the forward line, Dan Lloyd will have limited life in there, so Bobby will get his opportunity in due course. I really, really doubt we would want to trade him, and unless he gets genuinely homesick, I doubt he'll ask.

It would be really hard to judge his value - I daresay we would want more than WC or Freo would want to pay - so I won't even speculate.

Loved Whitfield and wore his jumper.
Also supported someone else (can't remember who)

I think the club want to keep him, we'll lose someone this year, won't be Hill

Haha fair enough then mate. I've seen a bit of him he's a quality footballer, hope he's loving it over there

Now that you say that, I remember his comment that Whitfield was his modelled player but I didn't link that to support of the club. :) (Was there a video of Lachie calling him too after the draft?)

Yep.

Caldwell, Hately, O'Halloran, Green.

Any team that offers a trade for a young developing, and proven, ruckman, will be able to cherry-pick 2 of the above in exchange.
The Giants ruck issue cannot be allowed to meander a season further.

How about we give Flynn a go 1st

And Briggs.

Would we even have considered Jacobs if Flynn didn’t do his knee last year? He was on the verge of a call-up when he went down.

I've heard Jacobs say in interviews that part of his role at the club is to develop these two. So they are training every week against 2 mature, well experienced rucks of completely different types now which is surely better for their devolpment.

No way would I want to trade 2 of those for a developing ruck.

Hmmm, I agree with the sentiment that we need to find a good ruckman to complement our team - lord knows we have faffed around for 9 years with a half-decent one for less than half that time - but I disagree with selling the youngsters (a) is worth it or (b) will guarantee we finally solve the problem.

Everyone on the main board loves to rip into us for missing Brodie Grundy - but they are correct that it has proven to be a huge overlook for us. And we could have grabbed Jarrod Witts from Collingwood when we traded them Treloar - and I'll admit I was one who didn't rate Witts at the time - who would probably be as solid as we need. (Or the following year when the Pies did trade Witts, we could have easily done it then too.)

Did I hear heath Shaw say in one of those Roaming Brian's that midfielders are a dime a dozen?
We recruit them for currency, why else would you pick 3 (caldwell, O'Halloran, Hately) from the one draft year, when our stocks are already chokka.

Heath would have been jokingly giving himself a wrap.

The best players usually play midfield (or KPP) in the juniors, they than may find themselves elsewhere at AFL level.

All 3 are different types of midfielders that offered different things.

Caldwell was our direct replacement for Shiel, bursts around stoppages and reading the ball off the rucks hands was/is elite, no one on our list then or now matches him for either
Hately, I'll admit I'm not bullish about, think we should get rid of him, but in 2018 he was a proven senior level player out of the SANFL and was doing well as a HFF/ Mid
O'Halloran for his leadership and versatility around the ground, he's a plug n play type that'll fill a role anywhere on field, because thats the type of guy he is
