Yeah I like what you suggest. In the past we have had pretty a good relationship with you guys trading so it could happen.Hi, so multiple media sources are stating our interest in Cameron. Assuming we do move Treloar and get enough $$ to beat our Geelong's offer, are you likely to match? We had enough $$ to go after Dixon, Gunston, Kennedy before any of this Treloar talk, so if we do trade the latter, we should be able to offer $1 mil pa or even quite a bit more.
That nets you a 1st round compo, which is roughly a top 10 pick.
If not, I can potentially see us trading pick 5 for Cameron to GWS (from GC for Treloar), sure that's an upgrade on a 1st round compo, but that still wouldn't get you any of Mcdonald, Hollands, Phillips, Ugle-Hagan, Thilthorpe, who IMO are the clear 5 standouts in the draft (since Ugle-Hagan is going to WBD via academy).
I think the smartest way to go about it would be quite similar to what Richmond did with Lynch.
1. Cameron to Pies via FA - GWS receives Pick 10 (before dillusion)
2. Fringe player to Pies for Pick 14 or 2021 1st (whichever you like, we need to trade out both anyways)
This way you receive 2x 1st round picks instead of pick 5, which imo is better since the draft is said to be quite even outside of the big 5. This is mutually beneficial to both clubs, as a straight trade means the combined pie is smaller (neither of us gets any value from the compensation pick)
Almost certainly, once they know , it is rare not to make it known. They like to control the narrative.I would opine that Jezza - like Caldwell - has not actually made a final decision (that's just going on general reporting). In Jezza's case, there's seemingly a monetary & lifestyle attraction to Cats but loyalty to us.
However, yes, we just need to know what's happening so we can move on.
I feel the same. They wouldn't be doing their job if they didn't try and get the clear missing piece. But a lot has to go right (which may happen) for Collingwood.Yeah I like what you suggest. In the past we have had pretty a good relationship with you guys trading so it could happen.
but tbh my gut feel is that soooo much has to go your way for that to happen I just can’t see it happening
If the picks before ours went like that I'm confident we'd just take DGB, position of need with capacity to play from Round 1 2021If not, I can potentially see us trading pick 5 for Cameron to GWS (from GC for Treloar), sure that's an upgrade on a 1st round compo, but that still wouldn't get you any of Mcdonald, Hollands, Phillips, Ugle-Hagan, Thilthorpe, who IMO are the clear 5 standouts in the draft (since Ugle-Hagan is going to WBD via academy).

We wouldn't take Treloar for Cameron. He probably wouldnt be interested either.Would GWS consider trading Cameron for Treloar??
If Cameron goes the soul at GWS is not hit as much if Treloar comes back? in the same window, chance to reshape the list and get the team to gel in a different way with belief they are still going to get their but via a different path at the club. Don't know the dynamic but something needs to change and exit trend needs to be disrupted and ideally blunted
Its strange how some said Shaw had a mental breakdown apparently at North, not sure if true or not. North's list is so far behind the 8 ball there should be no pressure.
GWS on the other hand have plenty to work with if shaped astutely

I doubt it considering we are overdone in the Midfield.
As for the soul part, I think while it would hurt fans it wouldn’t effect the club overall in the grand scheme of things.
We were always going to lose multiple big stars, we were expected to lose a lot more, but we have kept the majority of who we wanted.
Disappointing, been very well paid for six years then continues to chase the cash.
At least the club will be able to tidy up the salary cap issues.
Obvious you would expect us to match to get the best deal possible
Exactly
Our cap issues are gone in one season.
I’m actually not as upset as I thought I would be.
Wish I could say I wasnt as upset as I thought I'd be. I feel awful. I thought he was a lifer.
Same boat here. A real gut punch.Wish I could say I wasnt as upset as I thought I'd be. I feel awful. I thought he was a lifer.
Maybe. I don't begrudge him it. Sounded like he was pretty settled up here though, hence the surprise.
Cooper Cronk had it right. Elevated him into the leadership group and 12 months later he's gone!On a issue we might want to have a rethink on giving life membership after just 150 games.

I seriously don't believe there is a salary cap system in force anymore. How can Geelong at the peak of their powers, playing off in a GF and having been in the finals basically every year for a decade somehow bring in the highest paid player in the game?
