Honestly if all clubs were measured purely by premierships most clubs would be basketcases. Most supporters just blame you because they didnt like you being set up but that was the afls (correct) call and they dont see the bigger picture. Besides you guys havent had the cultural dramas gc had you have always created a good culture and only lost players for cap reasons (which is no shame).

Back to the topic i think a match would be unlikely..i know its a small point but your compo would be back to back picks (9 and 10) and that gives you good power to address draft needs o doubt your list managers would want to give that up unless they get overruled by someone higher up the chain. Especially given the albeit small risk that if you match he either stays or it ends up in a draft scenario.

What would make more sense is if you match and then a side trade occurs. For example we trade 13 for a player we like that you want to offload (so long as the player isnt worth pick 100 i doubt the afl intervene) or we trade say 13 for later picks from you (this is essentially what the dogs will do with trading down 12 for points so unless the trade is crazily uneven in terms of points the afl cant really do anything) either scenario to me gives both clubs a better outcome than they would get if the compo pick of 10 disappears.

Either way you have a good forward line and i reckon you will do well long term.
I like this scenario, we still get two higher end picks for Jez and don't set ourselves up to look like difficult traders. Maybe Caldwell is that guy? I'd prefer to keep O'Halloran if possible but if he wants to move this deal is better than any other we'd get for him

Lol. Look at you go. Happy to take Tom Lynch for nothing, but take the moral high ground here. Why are you on here anyway?? Nothing to do with Tigers fans
He goes from board to board and posts stupid trade ideas. I'm surprised he hasn't infested your's before.

So disappointed but opens up opportunities for others and also enables the cap issues to be lessened somewhat

I would like to see the club push for a trade instead of free agency and not sure who from the Cats would be after a move to Sydney

funny thing with this scenario, although Geelong are trying to do a Hawthorn and kick it for a little longer, Collingwood are not pristinely set up either.

Nevertheless Collingwood have the crowds and they would appreciate the effect of a forward target with kudos in a team thats largely a midfield especially to its supporter base and Maguire would know it.

Even Cameron would be aware at least Collingwood have a few youngsters and can create pull even though Geelong have their connections. Cameron could even live in the country and the Pies parachute him in for training and match day.

Adams is there to and may be the next captain who Cameron would be familar with.

Its an interesting scenario, let the bidding begin

Im assuming caldwell now stays but who knows.

As rough examples (assume williams is 9 cameron compo is 10 and corr 20 and hately 30 for the sake of the argument) things that would be viable are like:
Xoh for 13 (or similarly ranked fringe player)
Three way trade Geelong 13 and 19 to carlton who give 7 and 27 (19 is saad) gws give up say 20 and later picks and get 7 and geelong get some of those later picks.
Or if its just between your club and ours 11 goes to gws for say 20 and 30/40 which gives you 9 10 and 11.
Point is both clubs get a better outcome than they would otherwise get by allowing the afl to write the compo pick.

Be interesting to see what happens and hope its respectful on all sides..if he even nominates us.

Apart from Clark, they do not have anyone good enough young enough to really help your list.

The thing with Geelong is a lot of it revolves around Danger. Even on the weekend Ablett's kicking helped them but he will be gone next year.

They have some handy players and are a good team but their age profile is against them and Cameron. They rely on Danger a lot and even more in the years ahead before father time catches up with him to

We're not trading Clark, let alone with any first-round picks.

If we're offering more than GWS offered I don't see why they'd match instead of letting him go and just taking a nice compo pick.

Here is another thing, if I am Jordan Clark, why would I want to stick around at Geelong? The list is about to hit the wall and go off the cliff and I am not getting an opportunity anyway. You are chasing players like Higgins and Smith to!!! If your not trading Clark is he supposed to remain in the twos??. Clark has not been in your plans why should Clark not want to exit??

Giants should get a top ten pick and a second rounder minimum.

Nope, not enough, they can match them.

You have to think of Cameron's career welfare to because Geelong's list is looking perilious. you can't anchor your focus to this shortened year. Like a ASX stock its all about forward earnings

If GWS matches the bid can GWS still trade with Collingwood or anyone else if Geelong does not step up to the plate?

Well aware of that GG.

Was more questioning the timing of his posts given he's the captain and what's going on/what he would have been briefed on around that time.

I don’t see the issue.

Lots of babies being thrown out with the bath water.

This is an opportunity and we now have cap space and great talent across the board.

All for the Cap posting happy snaps.

No offence but if he was to leave geelong hed pick a lower club where he might getmore gametime not gws where he might not even make the 22.

He would get a game in GWS as they are weak in the backline and they need run, bit of pace and good users of the ball. He would compliment the likes of Perryman and Ash nicely to be honest. He could also play on a wing when Kelly goes inside. Helps free up Whitfield to the wing and more forward so he can be more damaging

GWS do not have enough players like Clark, thats there problem, bit of pace, size, good user, touch of class without being an out and out star.

Clarks ability to play genuine back and wing should be attractive to GWS.

He would be ahead of Reid and Kennedy, Buntine, Cumming as well as De Boer for starters and he offers more in terms of synergy and flexibility as well in terms of knock on benefits to other players in the team.

GWS do not have enough lessor players that can play multiple roles effectively. Clark could walk into the Giants and not miss a match ignoring injury.

Not only that Clark could help GWS in a forward role with a bit of zip and height
