No way the dogs do that IMO, they’ll have a better offer than 296 points. Which is why I think he could’ve and should’ve squeezed more juice out of the berry with Higgins like a 20 for 28 pick swap as well as 30, then we would’ve been on the ballpark....I honestly think we’ve blown that chance of 14 now!

Wells and HMac seemed unders at the time and in hindsight, at least for the pick position we did ok.

Still would have preferred him hang on another year considering our list is in transition and would have benefited from his leadership.

Hopefully pick is part of moving up in the draft.

Sad to see Higgins go, best of luck to him but I hope Geelong miss the finals for the next 50 years.

Pick 30 is a little annoying but not too bad all things considered. You'd think Geelong are going to be holding onto that pick 20 with all their might considering they will likely give up their first 2 picks for Cameron.

But yeah so Higgo wasn't happy with how he was used this year, and considering our midfield plans going forward it would've likely been the same next season so don't really blame him for wanting to consider his options. Not the best result, but not the worst result. From here it all comes down to what we do with the pick.

Yeah, you might be right. Not sure what WB can reasonably gain, but I reckon it's really between us and Adelaide on current picks who have the currency to nab that pick 14. And we would possibly have more desire to do so as picks in the late 20s and 30s up to 14 is more of a gain than the 22 + 23 that Adelaide would probably have to do.

Could change it to 26, 30 & 33 for 14 & 54, which is a 540 pick upgrade. Not a huge difference in picks for us though.

Problem is we always over valuate players we love. On ability alone, Higgo is worth more than 30, but when you add in age, contact situation, club direction etc etc, pick 30 isn't bending over, it isn't bad at all.

Hoping we bundle it up for a higher pick or bundle for a decent player and pick, anything that helps us grow moving forward. Love your work Higgo!

Collingwood has made all the headlines without yet completing any deals, as it struggles to deal with a chock-a-block salary cap.

Adam Treloar has been linked to the Western Bulldogs, while Jaidyn Stephenson was today connected to North Melbourne, but AFL.com.au's Damian Barrett believes young Blue Lochie O'Brien might go against the flow.

O'Brien was only able to play one game this year - round 17 against Adelaide - struggling to break into an improving line-up, and has played 36 games overall since being drafted with pick No.10 in the 2017 NAB AFL Draft.

"The status of Lochie O’Brien is unknown. North Melbourne is very keen to explore possibilities with Jaidyn Stephenson and Collingwood,” Barrett said on Trade Radio.

"We raise that in the context of this Carlton conversation, because if that is to be the case, Collingwood, we believe, would then be very interested in what Lochie O’Brien would then be doing.

"The way we’re having it told to us, he’s a potential focus of Collingwood, should Stephenson find his way to North Melbourne. They’ll look quite closely at the potential availability of (O’Brien)."

Higgins trade seems about right... of course we would have liked a better deal, but he is 32 years old & we are beginning a rebuild.
We either use this to upgrade or take it to the draft. Pick 30 might unearth a beauty in this COVID affected year. Talent scouts will earn their money this year.
