He meant more to us then 30, but when you factor in age and how these deals for older players normally go. 30 isn’t the worst result. Take it and do something with it now, either package it up and move up the order or potentially on trade it for Stephenson.

People have just become accustomed to watching our older players continue playing for however long they want and rolling out on zimmer frames.

This was the right thing to do for the club and if anything we owed it to Shaun rather than shoehorning him into a bullshit flanker role, where quite frankly he looked like he'd rather be elsewhere anyway.

I'm sure we won't be complaining when Shaun Higgins is essentially still contributing for the club in 2028 via the player we pick up or trade for via his pick.

Very happy for Higgo very happy but if we do get Stephenson it would happen regardless of if we traded or kept Higgo.

Club has been pretty public in saying that given the change in circumstances since Shaun signed his last contract that they would not stand in his way of getting a deal from another club that allows him to extend his career. Not sure why posters would be extremely surprised or disappointed with pick 30.
It is not a bad deal for a guy who had a maximum of one more year at our club and could be parlayed into a very good long term player in the draft.

I’m not sure how people expected much more for a player higgo’s age. We actively took him out of his best position to expose younger players and we probably want to expose more youth moving forward. Good trade as far as I’m concerned and thanks for the memories Higgo.

If people are upset about Higgo for pick 30, stand by for some colossal melts when the BBB trade is done.

Rather than assessing in isolation whether this is a bad trade or otherwise, perhaps we should wait to see whether pick 30 is to be used as part of something bigger.
