Stephenson was not even on the table 24 hours ago and we were happy to take our picks and trades received for Brown and Higgins to the draft, or to upgrade current picks.

This opportunity has simply dropped into our laps, in no way do I see us being desperate enough to overpay, we have read the situation and will walk away if the deal isn’t right.

Collingwood are not holding the cards here.

So not sure why everyone is getting so twisted about this.

We have done the right thing by Higgo, received fair compensation, and will do the Stephenson deal only if it works.

They are not related.

Otherwise we say thanks but no thanks, walk away and leave them holding the can.

Nope, not for 11; second rounder or keep your TPP problems to yourself
Pies won't need their first rounder next year as they'd spend it on Nick (?) Daicos, who is tipped to go very early. We could work this into it. As suggested earlier, we could do 11 and one of our R2s for Stephenson and their 2021 R1. It values him at R2 but they get 11 to save face. A Pies fan suggested similar on here earlier.

Put the 2nd Rounder on the table and walk away. I wouldn’t even be haggling.

Something stinks about this whole deal. You don’t salary dump what you consider to be one of your best young talents, unless something is not right.

That would be like us salary dumping Jye Simpkin.

The fact Collingwood is even entertaining this brings up some red flags.
He's on a fair salary and Brown and Daicos have already gone past him.. puts him in a bit of a weird position. Especially when they’ve just handed out $$ to Grundy, Moore and need to do go Degoey.
Basically why the hell are they paying a kid $500k who’s in and out of the team

They are bluffing their heads off though, waiting to see what happens with Treloar & Phillips.

yeah, okay .... maybe. I think that kind of package might depend at our end on whether we can trade Bulldogs for 14 - I don't think we'd go 2 and then a long way to our next pick in this draft, which is critical to the new Rawlings regime

We will have it by finishing last....

Or did I miss something?

There's a good chance we don't finish last. We had the deepest injury list in the comp and purposely played guys out of position, there was a reason we were so crap.

Those other teams listed went backwards this offseason and they were already awful. We lost to all the cellar dwellers but for the Crows, won't happen next season.

Yep, I’m confident Luff and Rawlings will make the right decision. I don’t get the fretting, unless you haven’t been paying attention to our moves, silence and negotiating thus far.
Atu as well now, yes please
Like him, fits a real need and will be cheap.

I'll be honest, if it wasn't a salary dump and we were chasing him first I'd consider 11 fair. It'll end up around 13. But that's in the light of fairness. If it was 11 and their 2021 first was thrown in I would snaffle it.

I'm not sure it'll even matter, only one pundit coming in with talk of 11, most seem to think it'll be a package of second rounders (of course, of he chooses us). It should really be whatever value we get for Brown because the contracts seem to be about the same. I'm completely confident if it goes ahead whatever is traded we will feel like the winners.

I simply cannot entertain the idea of 11.

With a first back is a different story.

I respect your post but I'll be very annoyed if we get this guy off who've we've moved on.

Again, if cheap fine, otherwise no thanks.

As state from our club, 'the ball is now in the hands of Jaidyn, it's up to him weather he wants to stay at a club that doesn't want him or come to us to do some hard yards.' This is the clearest indication of our position.

The AFL changed the rules when Sydney did just that. You can no longer trade back up after you pay for academy prospects.

Thanks for that, much clearer. If they have to use their first though, they'd still be better of trading the top ten pick, if they get it, for better value after 14.

Cheers, that clears things up. If, and it is a big if, they get a top ten pick they'd still get better value trading that out than pick 14. Even without the opportunity to trade back up, unless I'm horribly wrong again of course :)

Bloody hell man! We had half of this forum living the dream thinking we'd be last this year, begging for the team to sink just to get #1. And you come in here, dashing the hopes of the true believers like that. Shame, shame, shame on you!

I think you can but you can’t trade back the same picks

Yep might get him for a fourth rounder if they can’t off load treloar and Phillips

I'd be putting our 2021 second on the table for both guys first thing tomorrow and then walking away. Pick will be around 20-22 which will be valuable points for Daicos.

If they want pick 11 then I would be wanting their 2021 first back, or at least somehow tying in the Dogs' pick this year.
