I'm certainly not a Polec knocker and happy to keep him but given that Hawthorn have just lost a winger it's worth asking the question. It comes down to whether draft picks are more valuable to us at the moment.

If he plays like he did against the Eagles I am happy for him to stay, if he just wants to hack the ball and not chase/tackle/pressure then he find another club.

Selwood is 32. You'd think Constable would be earmarked as his replacement yet Geelong are happy to move him on? Raises questions.

Most likely he's Constable Plod.

Maybe just annoyed by the fact he keeps getting passed up for guys like simpson because he's not versatile in other roles?
I know it was one of the negatives about him last year- the fact he can only play 1 position even though he's good at it.

It's almost like he had a photo of Buckley with a goat, but then they discovered he'd lost it....

And they lost Tim Kelly last year, but he doesn't seem to be a priority.

He'll have the same problem at North behind Cunnington .

The club would have to have a mid spot in mind for him otherwise they wouldn't been putting in an offer.
Might just not be obvious for north fans at this point.
Could be some further player movement at the club?

Maybe we've offered a good deal and he is making the choice?

Tend to agree with being wary of fringe players at good clubs but they are absolute stacked for inside mids.

And he sure did, he stepped up, we just failed to utilise it, you don’t come 3rd in a BnF for participating.
He should be expecting suitable remuneration, but Pickers is his manager /wrists.

We still ended up almost bottom of the ladder though.

The issue is, with Ben back next year then we will go with Cunnington, LDU and Simpkin in the middle, nobody has disagreed with me on this so Anderson would go to the bench. He isn't going to come 3rd in the B&F from the pine.

I'm not crazy about Constable but surely this year showed us that we need some more insurance in there. Plus all the times he has been effectively tagged.

The Constable one really is a head scratcher.

You wouldn't be able to find too many better first 9 games. Wins his own ball. Tackles.

I don't get it. Is he that bad on the spread?
He's a 191cm, skinny, 21 year old inside mid. Was always going to take a bit of time. Superb hands, nice skills, racks the ball up at will, but he's slow on the spread and struggles playing outside. Played quite a lot of footy across half-back as a junior too which is worth keeping in mind, was really good setting up the play and reading the game in that role.

Why would we be dragging our feet with Jed, Surely we've gotta pay some people next year.

I don't think money would be the issue, I am guessing it would be the length of the contract.

Tas, did you make a bet with someone about how many times in a 48-hour period you could post the word 'pine' before someone commented?

Possible. I think Anderson would be reading the tea leaves and he would know with Cunnington back and if we pick up some more elite mids over the next two years, where does he fit into the equation. This year was his best chance to elevate his value without Cunnington.

And finishing 3rd in the syd would also give him good bargaining power, in sure they will get it done

Could it be structure as well?

in that does frontloading/backending create a hold off point in contracts?

in that We're ok, Jed's ok, we just haven't formalised because we want flexibility to understand what levers we have through trade?

this would also point to the potential of something in the works we haven't got any sniff of.

I am looking for those who understand it more than I to validate whether this is an actual scenario that could be playing out.

Tigers' Grand Final emergency requests trade - https://www.afl.com.au/news/523329

RICHMOND defender Oleg Markov has informed the Tigers he wants to be traded to Gold Coast.

The dashing half-back will accept a two-year deal at the Suns and is expected to be one of the first trades completed when the window opens on Wednesday.

The Suns had been circling Markov for much of the season and see him as a replacement for the retiring Pearce Hanley and veteran Jarrod Harbrow, who is entering the twilight of his career.

Markov, 24, played six games this season before he was dropped ahead of finals and named emergency for the Tigers' flag.

He managed 23 games for the Tigers in five seasons after being selected at pick No.50 in the 2015 NAB AFL Draft.

The Suns had also shown interest in Tigers triple premiership defender Nathan Broad, however Broad is now working on a new deal to remain with the Tigers.

Did I make it onto the front page of Part III?
Report some of those front page posts. The mods are busy drinking cappuccinos down at chaddy and will delete anything you report as they are bypassing the decaf and knocking back the hard stuff to use up the 172 Gloria Jean’s coffee vouchers they amassed from the Chief, he of unmatched wisdom’s chaddy coffee shop slush fund before they expire.

If we want him then fine. Hope he does well. I just don't get the excitement about Geelong 2's players. If he had any great scope, Geelong would hold him.

Same with Narkle. If they had any faith in him, why chase a 33yo Higgins?
