I'm sure they will find a spot for him. Did this last year as a 20yr old in a stacked Geelong midfield. Kids got some talent if he gets consistent AFL footy and a set position in a side he'll be an absolute jet. View attachment 998540

Yeah, but he only managed 2 games this year without Tim Kelly.

Find a spot... where? We can get him for depth but how is that going to improve his position from where he was at Geelong?

I wonder if we're talking to the Hawks about Polec now that Smith has left them...

Polec for R2 (currently 21)?

I don’t understand the desire to move PoleCat on for a second rounder that will be a speculative pick.
The guy has ability when used in his natural position, Shaw played him out of that position and he cracked it personally I don’t blame him, it’s like employing a plumber then expecting them to be a sparky.
You use yours players strengths not their weaknesses and in Poles case I’m sure he was told in no uncertain terms to not act out.
I would accept it as a lesson and we all move on and keep him to be that outside winger with penetrating kick we need.

His manager must be bloody good! He is a list clogger and as soft as they come!

Atkins will be out of Gold Coast's best 22 in a year.

Was coming to post the exact same thing. Ellis already has one wing tied up. Weller, Anderson, Bowes already have the other wing sorted and they are all better/harder than Atkins

Really don't understand why they would pick him up.

Agree. I would suggest that a new coach coming to the club would be very keen to have a player of Polec's talent on the list.

Especially since Rhyce was able to knock some discipline into him.

We need more than three in the mid to cover for injuries, suspensions and rotations through the game... we were really lacking in there without cunners this year so need him back plus some depth... and we also only have maybe 2 left of cunners? I would prefer Clark and I would prefer a first rder

You aren't going to trade Higgins for a depth player though. People understand my point? We will be losing a best 18 player for a depth player. That would be crazy.

We do need a long-term replacement for Cunnington but does he play for another 3 years? So Constable will be a 24 year old with 9 games of experience. Maybe he gets some game time on the pine, but we can't play Cunnington, Anderson and Constable in the same midfield group.

It's good isn't it as means our chances of Powell have to be greater? As once the wing clogs up they will push back into hb and clog up back there too where powell is wanting a game

Unless we are at a stalemate with the Jedster (god I hope not) in which case “The Plod” would be a young replacement.

Q: Hey Matt, Lloyd floated the idea of Jed Anderson to Carlton, what would you expect North to request if the idea was entertained?

A: 15-25 maybe. Not sure he has huge currency

This is how shit becomes news

I'm certainly not a Polec knocker and happy to keep him but given that Hawthorn have just lost a winger it's worth asking the question. It comes down to whether draft picks are more valuable to us at the moment.

Possible. I think Anderson would be reading the tea leaves and he would know with Cunnington back and if we pick up some more elite mids over the next two years, where does he fit into the equation. This year was his best chance to elevate his value without Cunnington.

Even if we're mildly interested in him, I'd play any interest down and make Geelong come up with a proper trade for Higgins.

Letting them throw their Queen of Spades in Constable at us lets them out of paying up properly.

And he sure did, he stepped up, we just failed to utilise it, you don’t come 3rd in a BnF for participating.
He should be expecting suitable remuneration, but Pickers is his manager /wrists.

Why would we be dragging our feet with Jed, Surely we've gotta pay some people next year.
I'd say the Jed deal is basically done but we're waiting on the list/salary cap to be finalised by the AFL before the final details are done.

I get your point... but also there is no point keeping higgo and not playing him in his best position either.... if we are going to flick him to a wing may aswell trade him... also noting Anderson hasn't signed as yet
