Tonight is where we reap the benefit of our extra early 2nd rounder. Cannot see why we would trade the picks. 3 of the first 6 picks with some quality there. Let's not get too cute. Get it done. And get it right.
He was actually crying before he was picked. Sulking he didn’t go to Richmond.Hobbs was crying at the thought of going to the Bombres. Must hate needles, the poor kid.
gee he nailed it last nightCal was saying earlier this week that the second round is where the clubs will be more honest with each other as to who they want and will trade accordingly.
I can see us trading a future second to get one of the Tigers picks, because there's going to be some good players still there at 28.

That's a bit rough. He said in the interview Essendon told him if he was still available, they would pick him! He know before they read his nameHe was actually crying before he was picked. Sulking he didn’t go to Richmond.
I’d cry too if I knew my fate was to be selected by EssendonThat's a bit rough. He said in the interview Essendon told him if he was still available, they would pick him! He know before they read his name

Can't be serious?Day-DGB-Ward-Sonsie-Butler/Draper/Goater as a spine for the future is pretty damn good. Day and Ward are lifers, and while I am iffy on taking two inconsistent prospects so close together the payoff if Goater can learn to kick half-decent (get him in the gym with Mitch and see I say), Sonsie figures out how to contribute when he isn't winning his own ball, Butler becomes Winguard 2 or Draper adds some muscle and becomes a genuine midfielder we have a premiership-winning group there. Tack on whoever we get next year while the younguns develop and I am very optimistic in our future. My god, this is a dream come true, a home-run draft no matter what at this point.
Not a spine in the structure sense, more of a staring group to build around. Can't be serious?
Not a KPP amongst that list.
Thanks for the write up Davo. I've read there are big question marks on Clarke defensively. Obviously similar to sponsie. For me it's Butler/Johnson/ and then knevitt/MacDonald ...i hope we make good decisions here, we have a chance to pick up some talent, i hope we dont trade backwards, if Johnson is there i would guess we take him, then the 2nd pick tonight could be used on a KPD like Bazzo or Dean depending on who is available, if Johnson is taken, we can look at the likes of Goater or Knevitt or MacDonald and Long could also be outside chances, if we want a speedy forward i would go Clarke/Curtis ahead of Sonsie, but all 3 could be good forwards, it depends on what we prioritise.
dont trade, man up and pick our next premiership players.
Johnson gives us an inside mid with good disposal who can also play off half back as an interceptor, composure but lacks a little in speed and desire for the contest
Goater gives us speed in the middle or half back and is very athletic, but seems to want to play it safe as a half back and can rush his kicks under pressure
Bazzo gives us a lockdown defender who can also leave his man to intercept, good height and size and shut down Van Rooyen in the Colts GF after 1/4 time, also was one of WA's best over their 3 game SA series
Dean won the VFL rising star award and players that win that have had a history of making it at the AFL level, he was also good in his u18 years and was unlucky a change of position(playing as a KPF and not overly impressing) hurt his draft chances
Knevitt is a big strong tough inside mid, with great hands in congestion and a knack for spreading the ball out to runners, he is a decent kick and accumulates the ball, another big mid option
MacDonald is another accumulator mid who also works hard defensively and on the attack, a good 2 way runner and it seems Carlton are into him if we dont take him
Long could go later as he has kindve been forgotten, he was in most peoples top 20 earlier in the season but has fallen out of there since he copped an injury prior to the season ending prematurely
Curtis is another who could go later, he is a skillful small forward who can kick bags of goals, was really good for Vic Metro and i believe is under rated by many
Sonsie was a likely top 10 prior to the season as most loved his 2019 season as a half forward for the dominant Eastern Ranges, but this year his midfield work has been disappointing and he seems to at times flinch from contact which is why i believe he missed out on being drafted in the first round
Clarke is a speedy mid who loves a goal and when playing forward can kick a bag, he can also go missing and with Brockman already a player with skill who goes missing a bit we cant really afford too many of these types, but he does have speed and our recruiters love a guy with pace.(eg Seamus, Saunders, Haasbroek)

Maybe we should look at Blake Schlensog if we don't take Bazzo
What are your thoughts on Butler Davo?

Nah, **** em.Gotta feel for Pies.
How do (would) they have all three?Gotta feel for Pies. They could have had Callaghan, Daicos and pick 2 tonight![]()
