You make a great point.I get what you are saying. I know Reece is a decent guy and I’m sure he’s a great role model and leader around the club. But the new rules where scoring is higher means that his attacking limitations hurt us a lot.
As Duffield also says - Hughes on the other HBF is the exact same. I think there is only room for one of Hughes and Conca in the team.
It is. Plus, all of those players have played more games for us than players taken late in the draft or as rookies would average. That’s a very different argument.

You make a great point.
Conca and Hughes are great defensive but both them in the backline kills ball movement.
You can’t play both of them.
You can if you want to turnover the ball with long bombs to intercept markers. You can if you have to.
Hopefully Walker or Thomas become viable options because Duman and Watson are no better.
I wouldn’t say spud, but many of the mature agers are Soft.Anyone who isn’t an above average kick, Fyfe or a KPP is an absolute spud according to many on this board, especially the week after a loss.
Thought you’d been here long enough to know that
Yes pretty sure he was. Walters, Brad Hill, Fyfe and Mundy were all amongst the best in recent years for us.Was our best last year from memory too
He's the new whipping boy because Blakely hadn't been playing muchConca was always best 22 at Richmond. Hardwick loved him and I don't understand the hate towards him personally

Thank you for clarifying!Conca was a free agent.
Colyer was traded for a fourth round pick.
Acres came as part of Hill trade.
I'll give you a hint I'm cluelessI can't tell if he's trolling or clueless hahaha
That's not how you spell Mitch GeorgiadesFFS dude.
Geelong no longer need a ruck man. They have 3 developing on their list, one of which is Shannon Neale. They clearly prefer mobile, multi position rucks.
3 young rucks.. no longer need a ruck? Not sure if thats the case Gav... the three young players may all develop or may not. We have let developing young rucks go for too long.. so if Stanley finishes at the end of this year , I can see us looking at options. When a club bring the players in we have..like Cameron and Higgins etc , I doubt they will want to be reliant on a Rookie B ruck or a kid like DeKoning who they hoped could be a backman for them.
I agree , its been a long time since we have preferred the big bulky rucks. We tried it with Zac Smith and did not seem to work... so whether Geelong would be overly excited about Darcy is hard to gauge.
What ever happens.. I believe Darcy is contracted so.. he is not going anywhere unless Freo is happy with the deal.
I would expect that if Geelong are in such need that you'd also be sending back Neale and Clark for Darcy.
But I'd rather not trade Geelong any of our talls.
Thanks for the insight. I really like Geelong’s model of using a mobile ruck (Stanley) supported by Blicavs in defence and Hawkins outstanding work in ruck stoppages forward.3 young rucks.. no longer need a ruck? In contrast, our two currently available rucks in Meek and Darcy are a little too similar and lacking the same non ruck specific qualities. we end up trying to fit two specialist rucks on the 22. It leaves us struggling when Lobb is injured, which is a bit too often.
I would be interested in getting Shannon Neale on the books although he is probably a few seasons away from being useful. If our club had faith in Meek, something like Darcy for Neale and a second round pick would be around the value of that trade IMO.
Neale would become the Lobb replacement when he’s ready.Neale look to have potential as the that relief type.. but a few years away Id say. I think they may use him more as a forward. As we have Fort as well.
The rookie B kid we drafted, Tsap, will be playing in the nabL u19's so obvious he is years away from afl if he ever becomes good enough.
If geelong rates Darcy then something like they deal you mention could be done... he would be substantially different to what they have used.
Personally, I'd put Conca in the middle.I’m a conca fan as a defender. He seems to have the same issue as a lot of our defenders have historically had. That is slow decision making in our back half. Hughes, Pearce and hamling are in the same boat.
The problem is made worse by our mids and forwards not creating space and making the defenders decision easier.
young, hill, cox, Ryan make quick decisions and back their skills. Often this results in a chain from back half to forward 50. Wilson either bombs it high or takes off and bounces. Only one of his actions usually results in us retaining possession.
I would love to see a plan that had our mids provide a clearer outlet for those backs. Drawing opponents from a space for players like tabs, lobb etc to lead into
Definitely when we are getting beaten by bigger bodies and need a change up.Personally, I'd put Conca in the middle.
I like Conca, but he can be shaky. In the middle he won't have time to think.Definitely when we are getting beaten by bigger bodies and need a change up.
