Yes and no to the last part - we beat the USA the day after Cambage withdrew from the team, so we can win without her

I do think we somewhat struggled without her in that she would have been a big part of the planning that went into things - so much in the past when watching the Opals, if things aren't necessarily working then you just get the ball to Liz in the low post and cause all sorts of trouble

Watching our second half this evening it seemed that we looked lost with what to do when Belgium stepped it, and just too many times we had players trying to do it all on their own. We came out of timeout that we had called, it's an offensive play which would have been set up but we go with 1 pass and shoot, which I'm pretty sure wouldn't have been the designated play

We need to play better as a team and not just as 5 individuals playing basketball

My opinion on Cambage - she shouldn't have been in the team in the first place, with an the carry on earlier this year in regards to the Olympic promos and such. She should have been cut from the squad at that stage, as I'm pretty sure she said she wasn't committed to the Olympics herself and unsure if she would go - that was when she should have been cut, and the squad focused on players who wanted to pull on the green & gold

I didn't have an issue with her questioning a lack of non-white representation in Olympic promotional material, but it was done in such an immature manner that it was always going to put noses out of joint.

What I do have an issue with is Cambage's alleged behaviour against Nigeria in the warm-up scrimmage a couple of weeks ago.

If what I have heard is true - and I've got little reason to think Basketball Australia would be calling for an enquiry over a little bit of push and shove and some harsh words - then she is an absolute hypocrite who has further gone on to play the 'mental health card' in a cynical manner once she was called out about her behaviour.

Opals absolutely stank against Belgium, regardless of whether they were missing their best player or not though.

Loving some of the quirks I've been finding out about the Olympic Games over the past 24 hours

Elvis Fatović is the coach of the Australian men's water polo team; he's a former Croatian water polo player and was apparently pretty good. Last night when Australia played Croatia, he was also coaching against his son who's a current Croatian player


While tonight in the men's hockey we have Australia vs New Zealand, and brother versus brother:
But brothers Leon and Jeremy Hayward are different from all of them. They are representing different countries at the Tokyo Olympics. The Hayward brothers will square off when Australia meet New Zealand in a men’s Group A match on Wednesday.

And they will definitely come face-to-face especially during a penalty corner for Australia because Jeremy is the Kookaburras’ main short-corner expert while Leon, three years elder to him, is New Zealand’s goalkeeper.

Both Leon and Jeremy were born in Australia and represented Australia in age-group hockey. Leon made his debut for Australia in the test series against India in 2014. He also represented Australia in the Sultan Azlan Shah Memorial Hockey Tournament in Malaysia in 2015.

However, when he did not get selected for the national team for the next four years, Leon Hayward decided to move to New Zealand. He was eligible to represent them as his mother Ellie is of New Zealand descent. Leon made his New Zealand debut in 2019 in a test series against Japan.

I still can't work out how her dad remained so calm across his calling of the K1 on Tuesday and the C1 today, though his voice did seem to crack a little just as they were finishing the coverage of the event

Congrats to Jess, the Fox who is the GOAT of her sport
