From the limited footage I've seen of Keeler (haven't watched full games of any of the juniors) he reminds me of Ryder a bit. Would be hard to go past him if he's there at 33.

I reckon theres a big chance he falls out the 40
That would be absurd.

If he gets past 40, do Adelaide just have to match a bid wherever it comes? I forget after rule changes what happens after pick 40.

He’s as good a punt as most talls outside of a top 10 pick any year. The only talls who don’t have any question marks usually go top few picks.

I genuinely like him as a 2nd ruck option. He’s gonna be competitive enough against genuine rucks and towel up any kpps masquerading as 2nd rucks. Has the leap, long arms, follow up ground level skills.

As a tall I don’t think he’s the type to finish high up in the Coleman, but he doesn’t need to be. For a 197cm bloke I like his ability up the field.

I know we have a few talls on our list, but we need a 2nd ruck / taller kf to match with Mitch and Todd, and I don’t want to put all my eggs in the teakle and lord basket. Adding one of keeler, lemmey or Scully would be ideal imo. Keelers shown the most with his ability to be a 2nd ruck out of those names.

Crows would be laughing if they could add Michealanny and keeler for dirt cheap this off-season, tho I reckon neither are great list fits for them. Keeler is too similar to thilthorpe who is a 2nd ruck kf. Of course you still take talent where you can.

Players possible falling to pick 33:

Harry Barnett 202cm/93kg Ruck West Adelaide

Lewis Hayes 199cm/81kg Key Defender Eastern Ranges

Harry Lemmey 199cm/93kg Key Forward West Adelaide

Isaac Keeler 198cm/88kg Key Forward/Ruck North Adelaide

James Van Es 197cm/99kg Key Defender GWV Rebels

Ed Allen 194cm/82kg Utility Claremont

Brayden George 185cm/87kg Forward Murray Bushrangers

Kobe Ryan 183cm/72kg Midfielder Sturt

Adam D'Aloia 186cm/86kg Midfielder WWT

Billy Dowling 187cm/79kg Midfielder North Adelaide

Seems to be a lot of guys who have deficiencies but have focused on one or two areas. Ie Jones and van Es smashing the athletic stuff. Lot of ‘hard workers’ in the draft but questionable ceiling.

The small mid/HFF types are a dime a dozen. If we see some role or potential in Barnett or Keeler, etc then definitely grab them. Reality is that the draft, tall backs included, don’t project well. No point grabbing a tall for the sake of it.

Maybe keep a spot and get 5 or 6 players to train at the club and then take one as a preseason supplement player

Looks like we will have the choice of a bunch of 2021 highly rated SA boys at #33- Keeler, Lemmey, Scully, D’Aloia, Verrall, Magor, Cockshell. Given Parker’s track record of picking based on form from > 1 year ago (Rozee, Georgiades, Sinn) there is a good chance we go to this way this year again.

There's a draft article on the afl site talking about powerful mids. It indicates there are 12 players with invites to the first night of the draft so far. No real surprises, maybe with the exception of Hewett.

Wardlaw, Tsatas, Humphrey, Ginbey, Phillipou, Mackenzie, Ashcroft, Clark, Hollands, Sheezel, Cadman and Busslinger. (with Fletcher likely to get an invite?)

The collective of powerful midfielders will be there at the draft, with Wardlaw, Tsatas, Humphrey, Ginbey, Phillipou, Mackenzie among the dozen players so far invited to the opening night of proceedings.

Ashcroft, Clark, Ollie Hollands and Harry Sheezel will also be there, with Jaspa Fletcher in the mix as well, with Cadman and Jedd Busslinger the only talls so far.

Smart move by Essendon to make sure the old man played bang on 100 games and not leave him hanging in the high 90s like a few players have been.
