Not even going to bother with a wishlist of who I would want. At 33, you're just going to wind up disappointed more often than not - like the time I hoped that Shai Bolton would slip through to us but we ended up with Joe Atley instead.

Geez you're an astute judge of talent!

Just out of interest I did run a search under your name for Shai Bolton and there's no mention of you wanting him prior to the draft, but given your previous record of always arguing honestly, fairly and in good faith, we have no reason to doubt you.

You must not have looked that hard.

Deliberately misleading as always. The draft game is a list of who you think we might draft, not who you want us to draft. It's also the one and only time you ever mentioned Shai Bolton prior to the draft.

Yeah, and when the draft was on, and Bolton was sliding when he was rated highly by most draft watchers, I hoped that he would slide through to our second round pick. What's wrong with that?

My statement wasn't about being an 'astute judge of talent' or how I rated Bolton (even though I obviously did if I'm mentioning him). It was about how you can put forth a whole bunch of names and they ultimately mean absolutely nothing because you're beholden to what other clubs do at 33...so what's the point of putting up a wishlist of names?

I mean, I also told you to be prepared for us to pick Bergman at 14 when we did. So let me 'disappoint' you again and say that Ed Allan is probably someone our recruiting staff will have a hard on for. I hope there are better players available, but the fact that he can play wing and push back into defence, combined with being able to kick on both feet and elite acceleration and agility is exactly what our recruiters jizz over.

That's where my expectation is at. Another flanker with a unique combination of speed and endurance. Anything else/better is therefore going to be a bonus :)

I could live with that but would still prefer 2 Talls .
Plan A should be two talls but, realistically, if these smaller players slide to 33:

George
Clarke
Munkara
Hustwaite

…or these players slide to 60

D’Aloia
Long
Magor
J.Ryan
Jones
K.Ryan

a discussion will need to be had.

And we have 3 spots to fill, so it might be better to say we need two talls from the 3 picks.

I liked Shai Bolton in his draft year! Also just read i wanted to trade for Bolton when he was playing reserves for Richmond! I forgot that.

I just find this draft very even so I dont really know who I want. Besides we basically need to take two tall defenders from our three picks.

Darcy Jones, James van es and mature age tall defender would be my ideal realistic draft.

Mate Brodie Kemp is the one to draft ok

Exceot when we don't draft him I'll say we never wanted him

And just out of curiosity I searched this one too and you did mention several times before the draft that you were interested in Bolton. Which I guess is what you would expect from somebody who actually did want Bolton before the draft, rather than a notorious hindsight hero.

I saw him live playing for the all stars. He was awesome. Then again I thought petreski seton was awesome.? Thought that adelaide player who went at about 16 was rubbish (gallucci?). The again I had a man crush on bridie kemp. I'm blaming his acl. Tweener sizes really struggle at afl keel unless they are super athletes.

Bolton was super exciting but had by far the worst kick in the draft. Always had elite traits if he fixed that, which he did

I'm surprised there's talk on here of taking someone other than a KPD with our first pick.

Assume that's because we'll get out KPDs at 60, 84 or as rookies? Doesn't give a lot of confidence that they'll be any good that late but then again plenty of top players have come late or as rookies.

I think it's more that the top tier KPDs will likely be gone by 33, and at least some of the next tier KPDs will likely still be available at the 60 to rookie range.

So 33 is an opportunity to pick up some forward or mid talent if they slide (also needs), while still picking up future KPDs at our later picks.

That’s surprising. He seems to have good disposal now.

I can remember any instances where players overcome being bad kick.

His was a mix of too high ball drop and trying to kick whilst running too fast. In the 4-5 games I saw him play in his draft year it seemed like 2 out of 3 kicks were either grubbers or shanks. He had elite pace and elite confidence to run and carry though.

Perhaps Richmond have something outlandish like good skills coaching.
