A good draft given our late picks. We addressed our aging defence with McCallam, third tall who will be ready to play pretty soon and Marshall a skilled and athletic tall defender who will take a couple years to get up to size. Scully is our Max King

type who could be ready to replace Dixon in a year or two.

Picked up 2 South Adelaide players in the off-season. Who would have thought

I would say three…. JHF, Scully and Marshall….

You could argue 3.5 with Junior….

Hats off to our recruiting team, I think they did exceptionally well given our average draft hand. We took 3 players with a combined height average equating to 199cm, including a KPD.

Can’t believe how nimble Thomas Scully given his height. Still raw, but a lot to work with.

Don’t know much about Marshall other then he’s quite athletic & plays a genuine KPD role, that will do me.

Its an ok draft. Can't be unhappy with 2 200cm athletic types.

Scully reminds of McBean, at the least he'll kick a lot of goals in the reserves.
Still need to see Marshall.

Yes. McCallum a long term Jonas replacement. Scully is as good a speculative KPF as youll ever get. Marshall plenty of potential.

Lord, Scully, teakle and Dante is as good depth in talls that can go forward as I’ve ever seen this club have.

Tredrea, Chad Cornes, Lockwood, Thurstans + Primus, Lade, Brogan, French, Ackland = still the clubhouse leader, but you can never have too many

Twomey had McCallum at pick 26 in his phantom draft. May very grow another 2cm or 3cm as well.

I know a few posters have mentioned it but you do get the feeling that Lord is going to be tried as a back in 2023 and if that doesn’t work out he will be on shaky ground

Truly amazing. I've watched him since he was a 9 year as he played with my son. First couple of years he couldn't mark to save his life, but was always great at getting the ground ball. Played like a small even when a being a giant amongst the other kids. Lost track of him when he started playing for westies. Big Port fan. Good to hear he ironed out the marking..

How rapt is he going to be? Port fan, getting to Port with a late pick. Great footy story.

Well… I love the excitement, but….

- Teakle is a ruck… Lord is being played at CHB and Scully is a teenager

• Hayes tried but not proven and Visentini needs some time to develop
• Pasini will hopefully return strongly from his ACL, whilst McCallum and Marshall have just been drafted.

Yes, it’s tall depth…. But Port wouldn’t want to be in a key position injury hole next year.

But the Magpies will actually have some structure… at last

Look I can't stand Hinkley either but it's very possible for us to bounce back into finals next year the comp isn't that deep & I'd rather not go in with an undersized defence.

I think we're done. We have 37 on the main list and 4 rookies. We're going to redraft Williams on the rookie list and that takes us to the maximum 42.

Barkla automatically goes to the Cat B list.

Yes that's how we get Barkla. 2 allowed as CatB outside the main and rookie list.

We'll have 37 and 5 after we draft Williams. That's us maxed out at 42. Then Barkla is a freebie.

No. I just told you why the comp is not deep it's not some incredible feat for a club with some decent talent to make finals.

I fear for your sanity when we make finals next year.
