Oh that's good news regarding them both. I thought for sure Ham was going to be out for a season - having said that this season is still rather short so if it extends out ...:(

I didn't see Ham but Lexi Hamilton was obviously feeling a big mix of emotions after the match - pumped for the girls but, I think, devo to have missed it. Hope she can be part of another win really soon but I guess she'll never get to have been part of the first one despite having played every game last season. It's really sad and tough on her.

Sydney are unfazed by Montana Ham's early departure from the ground during Sunday's loss to Brisbane
Gowans said his teenage midfielder was playing on reduced minutes and could have returned if the match was still up for grabs.
However, he said the Swans took a cautious approach and expected Ham to be fine.
"Mon's ok," Gowans said.

Terrible news that Jennifer Higgins has done her ACL - just as she was approaching a debut, having been selected as an emergency against Brisbane, I think for the first time.

Also, unfortunate that Ham has had a setback but at least it sounds not too serious. I did wonder if it was prudent to bring her back a week ahead of schedule but I don't think the setback proves they made the wrong decision. Might just be unfortunate.

I'm not sure there's ever a right time to bring someone back from injury. Being out of the game leaves them underdone and you can train all you like but nothing replaces match time and game play, the first couple of weeks back always a chance something goes wrong simply due to the body getting back into match fitness.

The one to watch here is Kate Reynolds. She is a slim chance of returning to fitness not for this week but maybe if we play finals. Do we get a week off? This would be academic but given Morphett's absence would we consider bringing Kate into the team? Surely her match fitness would be lacking even if she is able to play. Seems like a big risk to select her - but she is the biggest/tallest ruck in the league and could help us out with taps. My feeling is that isn't enough given I don't think she could give us enough around the ground after such a long absence but what the hell would I know?

Probably right. Alice and Lexi have been sharing it. Did a reasonable job.

I don't think we'd risk it given her match fitness.

I'd feel a lot more confident going into finals if we had Ally fit. Gawd we'd be firing.

Lisa Steane – Knee to be assessed
Paris McCarthy – Knee test to availability
Montana Beruldson – Quad 3-4 weeks
Paige Sheppard – Concussion available
Kiara Beesley – Knee expected to be available
Ally Morphett – Hand - review with specialist in 3 weeks
Kate Reynolds – Foot coming weeks
Jenny Higgins – ACL gym-based rehab program
Hayley Bullas and Maddy Collier return to running program

Bad news about Steane and Reynolds. Better news about McCarthy and Beesley - although surely we don't select Beesley now.
