It's either HB or wing. As a backman he is tough, can control his opponent, but struggles to read the play unfolding, hence never has many intercepts

As a wingmsn he over commits, and generally only looks for longer targets, ignoring better options

Willo is at the crossroads as a player
I would agree with that, but I also would have thought it's the most coachable thing. Right now, he's taking short options galore.

I also felt he was doing exactly what was expected of him as a general defender in the pre-season. Now he's finally back playing some senior footy somewhere and they've dropped him on the wing in a team filled with outside run. It's as dumb as how they're playing Stocker and Kemp right now.

Motlop is having a day to forget

He's playing as an undersized KPF with minimal work on it in the pre-season, on an opponent that is physically bigger than him and has some of his athletic qualities and is more experienced.

They're leaving him on the difficult matchup, but I'm not sure he's learning much that he doesn't already know. It's miles in the legs he could be getting learning and aiding stoppage play, even if it's only in bursts.

Doesn't seem the coaches really see him in our onball brigade plans so are trying to develop him elsewhere.
We have our starting 5, with Dow & Carroll next in line...where does Kemp fit?

We have a need for more forward targets...we basically have no cover for McKay and Curnow. Looks like Kemp has been nominated as that guy...for the teams needs and it's actually his best chance of playing seniors. Shame it sounds like he's all at sea in the role though.

Fair call although stunning indictment on list management that not only do we not have enough key position players on the senior list but also with the reserves/top up players.

Like the look of Philp and Carroll so far, they may be next in line...

Our ruck situation is dire, If Pittonet gets injure we're f’ed...
TDK (struggling), Mirkov (Not even VFL quality, can't even jump off the ground)...

McDonald or Young are our best next option...

Yep, if TDK and Mirkov don't really improve it's a massive hole on our list that should be a priority come off season.

Also we don't have a single backup KPF to cover McKay or Curnow. TDK again not cutting it as a forward.

The holes in the list are starting to show.

JGM is suspended, and the rucks should be - but are not - rotating in the other key tall role.

Carroll is only good for about 2-3 quarters in the VFL, let alone the AFL. Today was the day to do something different, and even the club admit Kemp's ultimate position is contested mid resting forward as third tall.

Perhaps they're trying to speed up the forward minutes accumulated in the VFL, but this is a silly way to go about it.

It's a tactical error today, one of many.

You're making far too many excuses for someone that is lacking in workrate and attack on the ball. Needs to improve both, and be cleaner with his hands, before being thrown on the ball.

Are you talking about Carroll or Kemp right now? 💡

Kemp is playing high tempo football that is not being rewarded, and gassing himself in the process. The style of game he is playing is better suited to play out of a stoppage, and he has the right skill set to release other players or charge out of the stoppage as needed.

Has a great read of the game, just needs work on his tank. Don't see the harm in at least giving him 10-15 minutes there. Problem is Mirkov isn't really resting forward because he's absolutely gassed, so when TDK goes into the ruck, we don't have a key forward this week.

At the other end, Stocker is playing small defender when there are better small defenders in the side. Swap him with Williamson and push someone else to the wing. Stoppage problems are immediately solved.

Instead, we're mostly limp at the hottest part of the contest, and players outside of that are being run into the ground covering the rapid ball movement that ensues from Richmond.

I wouldn’t be persisting with Kemp forward. He isn’t a key forward and doesn’t look to have the smarts to be able to get on the end of the play. Personally I’d be playing him back to see if he can become an intercepting defender or possibly through the middle of the ground.
Carrol started beautifully then faded and really everyone else seem a fair way off.
I thought the TDK to CHB talk from a few seemed a little desperate but I think I could get behind that after his start to the season.

Anyway it looks like we are going abit better in the other game so might head to that

That throw, thrill, threat, throttle and thrash aren't pronounced 'frow, fhwill, fwreat, fwrottle and fwrash'.

I don't think he has a speech impediment, seems more like a learned behaviour. But when you're paid to announce, you've got to nail elocution so you're accessible to a wide audience.
Yes if there’s one thing football commentators are known for, it’s their elocution…
