i agree. it's the Pies stupid **** up, so we don't have to be the nice guys to the rescue here. pick 32 and they pay 300k would be my take it or leave it deal.I'm not sure there will be a lot of flexibility on the salary negotiation, Pies need to get rid of a certain amount which is why they're getting rid of him and, presumably, we can't afford to pay him anything close to a million a year.
Let's say Pies want to pay $200k and we want them to pay $300k - $100k can't be worth that much in terms of higher/lower draft picks. Maybe late first instead of early second (or vice versa) at most?
Personally my preference is to lowball them on both salary and draft pick and walk away if the price isn't right. But sounds like that's not the way it's going down because we are Nice Guys who Get Deals Done TM.
Both disastrous outcomes. but if I had to choose, I'd say I'd prefer to keep the pick.Let's say for arguments sake the Grundy deal is inevitable, would people rather pay a high pick and have the pies cover alot of his salary, or a low pick and pay most of it. Cause it really does feel like we are gonna give up a late first for him but have the pies cover 300 per year.
Spot on with everything you said. It just shows the Goodwin still doesn't have a read on our deficiencies. Another season with this forward line is just going to be another wasted season. The more I think about it the more the Grundy deal stinks. Could probably get Meek for steak knives in the Jackson deal. He's young, looks a promising competitor which is all we need. Yet Lions are looking likely to snag Dunkley and Gunston who are 2 players that could fit perfectly on our list. But hey we give up high $$ for Grundy and potentially a low first round pick. Our F50 remains a disaster. Imagine adding Dunkley and Gunston!! Lions adding Ashcroft as well who should have similar impact as Daicos this year. But hey, we have 2 awesome rucks who can't play forward to save themselves! Wtf are we doing?
Yeah, and it's never close misses either. He either flushes it or sprays it completely. That's a ball drop issue.Thought he was pretty good last year, 29.19 isn't horrendous. Was basically the opposite this year: 19 goals 31 behinds 142 OOTF.
His set shots are what kills him, basically the longer he has to kick the goal the greater the chance he *s it up. If he kicks off one step from anywhere without thinking about it he's fine.

Interesting.Yeah and maybe some luck, bounce of the ball here and there and you can roll the dice going forward. But yea absolutely it's a set play each time, Oliver for every brilliant one touch will overrun a bad tap and be out of the contest.
Just seems like a weird target to be bent over for. No one else wants him and Collingwood are trying to piss him off. No idea why we wouldn't utilise our leverage.Let's say for arguments sake the Grundy deal is inevitable, would people rather pay a high pick and have the pies cover alot of his salary, or a low pick and pay most of it. Yeah none of the hitouts in our clearance goals in the GF were perfect. It was the little things like Viney pushing Treloar into Martin for Fritsch's fourth that were way more impactful.Interesting.
When Clarry was on Dyl and friends, they both discussed the thing of practicing set clearance plays, and both agreed that they never materialise in the way practiced, ever. And Clarry himself said he didn‘t know what brought on the Bang Bang Bang sequence except that it relied on some luck, a ball bouncing off a knee etc. then confidence and momentum just rolls everything on.
Likewise Gawn in his book commented that Jacko wasn’t winning the hit outs during that time, Martin was in that one small respect, but Jacko’s follow up created an extra with the unpredictability that comes with it, and the opposition couldn’t adjust.
In short, the value of set plays at the centre bounce is probably less than the value of preparing for responding to each play quickly and with confidence. I’m not saying they should ditch set play training but more not get bogged down so much in trying to make it happen. No ruck in the universe is going to make the tap angle to player A or B perfectly each time, and you simply can’t predict an opposition in advance of each set up.

Dunkley's less interesting than a plank of wood, I can't stand the campaigner. He's also got a weird relationship with his sister, just a little too close.
Also I dunno how he makes us better? We already got too many guys who want to be the #1 midfielder.
You always need a tall at CHF to help with that contest on the wing we usually kick to. Pickett at chf doesn’t help with that at all, if you wanted to go shorter that’s fine but position wise that doesn’t make sense.
I'd be pretty stoked if I was Bailey Laurie signing that 2 year extension. The club must see something in him that I don't.We've only announced Mitch Brown retiring and Fraser Rosman cut.
Remarkable that even Baker hasn't been moved on. We must be anticipating a fair few to be traded out for lower draft picks but I'd be shocked if a club wants to take Baker.

Yeah its mostly a pace issue for me. And after 2 seasons, it looks like he hasn't done a single bicep curl in his life. Not sure I get your doubts about him, he was close to a debut through good form and hurt his shoulder which limited him for the rest of the season.
Yes, he's not quick but three quarters of our list would get cut if we got rid of everyone without much pace.

How else do you lift up the cup?
We should probably toss Fritsch too on that basisYeah its mostly a pace issue for me. And after 2 seasons, it looks like he hasn't done a single bicep curl in his life.
genuinely one of the worst suggestions ever on this boardWe've only announced Mitch Brown retiring and Fraser Rosman cut.

still can't believe we delisted Marty Hore and Jay Lockhart before him.Would have rather we kept Rosman over Baker for sure . Thats not to say Baker wont be cut yet but still, id have cut his useless ranga ass first.
Only because he was contracted, I liked Lockhart but he's not getting another AFL contract so not sure that was some remarkable decisionstill can't believe we delisted Marty Hore and Jay Lockhart before him.
