"Why do the ruckmen, the largest players, not simply eat the others?"3 pronged ruck strategy incoming
He looks like the sort of player we might target. The Inner Sanctum has him at pick 13.
Keeler offers something no other prospect can as a ruck-forward that has superstar traits. He has a 60-metre set shot, moves around the ground well for his size, has soft hands in the ruck and offers a tendency of dropping into the hole to assist his defenders. There’s sky-high upside with Keeler, which sees him entrenched in the top 20 despite lesser output than some around him in 2022.

Looked more impressive than Jefferson from the tiny amount of footage I've seen.Pretty impressive highlight reel, far better than most ive seen.
Moves well, looks to have well above average skills for a big man, smooth kicking action. id be more than happy if we took Keeler.

Keeler is described as being like paddy ryder, certainly sounds like a good replacement for Jackson and we still have a pick next year.
If we can turn Jackson into a peter Wright clone while still having another f1 up our sleeves it's already a massive win. There is a fair bit of Peter Wright about him I reckon just off that.

Yes, but is he a mummy's boy cry baby who will want to go home in 3 years time?Listening to a couple of draft podcasts and reading up on the draft. Seems Keeler is an huge talent but has a bit of work to do endurance wise. Would certainly be a forward and hopefully build up the endurance. Also a crows NGA but no chance to slide outside 40. Wouldn’t mind picking him up with our first.

It doesn't really matter about comparisons my point is if the kid is a gun we are already in front with the Jackson trade.Paddy Ryder and Peter Wright, two peas in a pod
I don't want to take an interstate player with a first rounder.Got a good hand in next years draft so can probably reach for someone to fill a need this year. No chance Jefferson falls to 14 so surely we take Phillopou. Exactly what we need in a classy forward/mid who can kick goals and be dangerous in the air.
I was unimpressed when I saw Barnett play.I was wondering with another Ruck in the draft. Harry Barnett from West Adelaide? 202cms 93kgs.
Also just for the lolz Tom Scully.

Jackson leaving is unfortunate but for the most part we haven't really lost many players to the go home factor in this era. Don't think Hogan counts as we were trying to get rid of him.He lacks competitiveness and plays with low intensity. I like his upside but I don't think he's a top 30 player in the draft. I'd rather play it safe and pick a victorian with pick 13 like Jefferson or Hustwaite. We can't afford to lose another player especially when there's a chance Kozzy and JVR will be big chances to go next year.
True. I'm just a little bit reactive after the Jackson ordeal. Losing Jackson has stunted our development substantially. It's a big disruption. Now that I've experienced it I'm a little reluctant even though you've made some good points. I personally don't think it's a culture thing, more just the continued player power movement whereby the plays call the shots.Jackson leaving is unfortunate but for the most part we haven't really lost many players to the go home factor in this era. If we lose one or two more of our highest rate interstate players next year then there is something seriously wrong with the environment at the club, an exodus like that so soon after a flag is basically unheard of. We shouldn't be afraid to draft interstate and take the best available player just because one player decided to piss off. If we use these picks well we could still come out better off from the Jackson trade than what we lost.

I agree that we can still win from the Jackson deal.
I've seen him play in the under 18 champs, on tv. not a highlights package and he just didn't involve himself. but he could just be lackadaisical. I guess this is where sit down interviews tell so much so if the recruiting team do their work and believe he has that inner drive to be a star in the league then I'm supportive of the pick. I've also seen some savvy phantom drafters have him closer to 40 though. On Keeler, I've only seen a handful of highlight vids myself but most phantom drafts I've seen have him in the 10-20 range. What gives you the indication that Keeler lacks competitiveness? Thought he used his body well in most contests I saw.
