Make it hard for GWS. Remember WE have what THEY seem to really want. Let's test it. Tell them give us 3 & your F1 for our pick 1 (possibly add in our F3). I think GWS will struggle next year so you'd assume this would net us 2 top 5 picks next year in a strong draft (on top of Ports F1 as I suggested as part of the JHF deal). If they say no then we walk away nothing lost. None of this 500 point net gain crap.
Any trade between Brady and McCartney will be pretty fair and pretty quick to work out.

I wouldn't be shocked if we are gunning for something like this:

1. JHF to Port for pick 2, future 1st and steak knives. It's up to Port to satisfy WCE with a suitable package to get pick 2.

2. Pick 1 to GWS for pick 3, pick 12 and pick 19. Use of later 3rd or 4th rnd picks to balance as they see fit.

3. Pick 19 to Sts for Clark. Its a valuable pick being the first live pick on night 2 of draft. Probably about 5 picks later than Sts would want, probably about 5 picks earlier than we would want to give. Feels like a compromise for both.
Of course, we had pick 19...

Because who GWS think is the best player in the draft might not be the same as who we think is the best. If we have someone at 1 on our board who we think will be there at three, then it makes complete sense to maximise the value of that pick
Whether we want Cadman or not that deal is poo

Agree with this - points 1 and 2 are the benchmark to compare how much value we have extracted from the 2 deals we have going atm and we should come back to this on Wednesday night to see how we have performed - ie have we caved, have we done better etc.

In terms of 3 I am meh on Clark but if we are interested in him and he wants to join us then 19 sounds right on the money.

Well done HTR.

How many times do we need to repeat it, it’s not JHF for Pick 2.

It’s JHF AND pick 12, for pick 2 and Ports future first

In all the scenarios I’ve read from the media, pick 8 and 12 and change needs to go to West Coast for pick 2

We are only going to end up with 2,3, Ports Future First and likely some late junk.

We are essentially downgrading two #1 picks for Ports future first 😂

If Brady signs off on this, everyone has had his pants down, Annabelle Chong style

No it isn't enough especially if we want to trade a pick for Hunter Clark.
Must be 3, 12, 19.

Club's don't trade the number 1 pick for a reason - if we are about to create a precedent then it needs to be overs for us - basically an offer too good to refuse.

GWS have the hand to make this happen and we need to ensure they use it.

I understand what you're saying, and I've read through those ridiculous hypothetical trades too. But they are exactly that, ridiculous. And not going to happen.

What those jumbled "mega-trades" reported by the media propose will happen and what I believe we have stated are our requirements for trading are two very very different things.

Cadman would have to be better than two of Wardlaw/Sheezel/Tsatas combined to prefer the alternative.

I know multiclub deals are wild but in this case I don’t like thinking pick 1 is on the table if we haven’t got pick 2, so a package of deals can help.

And I honestly don’t care if a multiclub deal works out well for Port or not. I only care if the result works for us. I’d rather have a better outcome for North where Port is also happy than a lesser outcome for North that hits them harder. The only revenge that counts, if you are into that, is our club getting better on field.
Absolutely this.

But in any scenario where we get an appropriate deal without Port adding something they have so far been unwilling to put up, one of the third parties is getting unders for their involvement, which makes no sense, why would they get involved to take a haircut?

If Port can swing it and arrange that we are paid appropriately, when push comes to shove, it doesn't matter how it happens, just can't see how it happens without them giving up more.

Agree on the value, but he's under contract with StKilda. It's a bit rich of us (not referring to you) to point to JHF's contract and then ask for Clark without giving St Kilda a reason to let him out of his contract.

Unless we give a pick in the teens, he's staying at StKilda IMO.

Personally would prefer we hold JHF at the moment, and also see where Clark is at in 12 months.
The thing with Clark is Sts we're happy to trade him. Now he might want out because of that. We weren't in his ear making him tank all season.

Said it before & nothing has changed, tell Port get us 2, F1 & Sinn / Bergman for JHF. Don't bother calling with other BS deals. That's what we demand otherwise he stays. It's not going to be this crap notion of win/win or fair for both parties. WE hold the cards here.
This. At least.

This maybe what is fueling the continuing “negotiations” that Clarko now wants him gone as well due to his potential mental health issues.

The kid is 19 and has shown a propensity to sook it up and be petulant (re his ice bath) his step father is an indigenous person and no doubt has said Poort under anyone would be a “safer” environment than Norf under Clarko and add to that he can go home and suck on mums tit after training ala “Lord Robin Arryn of the Vale”.

So Clarko may well be fearing the kid will just play the mental health card and we are screwed.

Better to take something rather than nothing at all.
I don’t trust this kid to grow up anytime soon, I don’t trust his step father and family not to be in his ear ever second of the day tugging at the heart strings, Poort have already shown they are willing to sabotage anything to get their way.

Port you flogs - this deal ain’t happening unless a player (maybe 2 players) you want to keep is traded.

Pick 1 trade needs 3 picks coming in with 1 a future first rounder
