I get the size thing-KPD with Hartigan, so glad the club is exploring. Just not him though, unless perhaps, there is absolutely no-one else.

Whitfield is an absolute gun. He's fast, covers a lot of ground and is a beautiful kick off both sides. In '18,'19,'20 there was no better decision maker in the comp in my opinion. Around then my brothers and I posed the hypothetical 'if the saints could pick one player from any team...' I had Whitfield in a heartbeat.
He's had a horror run with injuries the past couple of years. In '21 preseason training he got a bad knock which resulted in a bruised liver. It got worse and his liver inflated like a balloon which pushed up against his lungs. He couldn't run or do any strenuous exercise for months and missed the first six rounds. He started to look good as the '21 season progressed but missed another couple of games with a concussion. Of the eight games he didn't play that year GWS lost seven and they made the semis. He was back to his best at the end of the year, starring in round 21 with 34 disposals in their win against Geelong at GMBHA. Backed it up a few weeks later with another 34 disposals in the semi final loss to Geelong.
This year he looked ripe and ready to go after a full preseason but copped an an ankle injury early on which the club decided to 'manage', delaying an operation till the end of the season. He admitted he wasn't able to run the kilometres he would've liked and as GWS's season imploded he was one of the most relocated deck chairs on the Titanic. As Leon Cameron went into full panic mode he was played at centre bounces, wing, half back and half forward, sometimes all in the one game. He never got any flow with his game this year and missed another couple of games late with a hip flexor injury which didn't help. He's obviously had less impact this year but that's understandable (unlike Nick Haynes who seems half the player he was for no apparent reason). If he can make a full recovery from the ankle injury I'd be all over him like a rash. None of his injuries are related and we're not talking hamstrings and calves.
Someone said we don't need another 29 year old so it's worth pointing out that Whitfield turned 28 about 7 weeks ago. Plenty of good football left in him.
He's got 4 years left on his contract at roughly a million a year. Wouldn't want to pay that but if GWS want him off their books and are prepared to do a 'Treloar' and pay 250/300 of his salary I'm all in. Would be a massive upgrade on Hill.

They are pretty stretched on SC. Maybe a complete SC dump. If we don't get DeGoey (looks like thats true) and we lose Hill, we will have a shitload of SC. We could take the lot for a 3rd rounder
I like the Thomas idea and we should be having a crack at him, same with Bruhn.
I think this year is a golden opportunity to secure that mid base and get them playing as a group. I would be happy to trade out future 1st and 2nd for a good deal.

I hope they look at Josh SchacheI get the size thing-KPD with Hartigan, so glad the club is exploring. Just not him though, unless perhaps, there is absolutely no-one else.

At 28 and looking like he's past his best, we'd want Giants paying a chunk of his salary and letting him for a later pick.
I don't see that happening.
Watching our old team on YouTube recently
Where did we get Roo, BJ, Lenny, Dal, Joey?
Yes we had bad luck with Paddy, but we haven't used picks well, generally speaking, for a long time.
Much better to take the punt on the best full back from a state league.I get the size thing-KPD with Hartigan, so glad the club is exploring. Just not him though, unless perhaps, there is absolutely no-one else.
Maybe it’s the atmosphere he’s been in?TT has had a horrible attitude recently. Looked a star but he looks a problem child. Bruhn would be worth a look but cost might hurt.
Totally agree I fear another Hannebery scenario unfolding.Giants Salary Cap problems are not so severe they need to dump Tarranto Hopper Hill and Whitfield. Maybe they think his best is behind him and at $1M per season they are better off without him and I agree with them, do not want for exactly those reasons but they won't dump him for nothing. Has potential Hannebury vibes and we already have a better HB Flanker in Sinclair and he actually defends as well.

Everyone said Hannebery was cooked at the end 2018Everyone said Cripps was cooked at the end of 2021…
A Whitfield deal could well be on the cards knowing Gubby Allan has had dealings with him before.Totally agree I fear another Hannebery scenario unfolding.
After it has come out they want x2 firsts for Taranto, yes they will want over for him.TT has had a horrible attitude recently. Looked a star but he looks a problem child. Bruhn would be worth a look but cost might hurt.
One of the radio mobs mentioned Parish as a one to watch next year as a pre-agent or whatever they call it.Also while the Bombers are in crisis now is the time to go after there best young players , we could easily nab someone who just wants out.
Who's to say Merrett , Parish want out or one of the kids they have drafted.
How come we didn’t look at FramptonI hope they look at Josh Schache
