Why would Adelaide need to for a midfielder that’s “getting worse” according to you and no longer among the best mids in the comp according to TK? 9 & 21 sounds about right according to your assessments. Maybe overs.

Im not going to bother getting drawn into these silly arguments with you. Stop being so bum hurt, ive got nothing to do with what happens with Oliver or what we would potentially get.

If that's what we got we'll all be melting don't you worry.
Hi Bluelegs!

Come in peace as personally not fussed about Oliver.

We received 9 and 28 for 25 year old Paddy Dangerfield (out of contract).

Yeah and if Oliver was ooc we'd probably begrudgingly accept that.

Not everyone’s going to agree with you on a big potential change like this one.

What I don’t understand is the total non-acknowledgment of the mitigating factors and ill-luck which contributed to our narrow finals losses. They’ve been outlined to you and TopKent repeatedly but you just ignore them with this laser focus on laying the blame at the feet of a single player.

Is it really me being emotional and ‘attached’ or you? Think about it.

Not laying it at the feet of a single player at all. As i said many weeks ago, I think we need to tinker with personnel and our gameplan to compete and trading Oliver is the quickest way to fix it from a perspective of what we would get back and it opens up midfield minutes for a different style of player to come in and compliment what we already have.

Never said id trade him for nothing, never said it was all his fault.

It’s a strange world you live in where making the top 4 and losing two finals by a combined 8 points, playing with a sh1tty forward line and without key personnel, is failing to ‘compete’.

If we had a different style of midfielder on our team who could pin point passes and kick goals perhaps we win both those finals. The game plan based around guys who win the ball and just blast into the forward 50 and hope it works is broken. We need some difference makers who's impact per possession is significant.

Competing for flags I mean. Finishing in the top 4 means nothing, as we have discovered the past two years. Sometimes you need to take risks in order to take that next step, if you dont evolve youre getting left behind.

Make no mistake about it, if we trade Oliver the pressure will ramp up on Goodwin significantly. He would know that. He'd better be right and have a good plan.

We have the worst forward line in the AFL . North I reckon with Larkey has more upside. Hawthorn definitely have a better forward line. Keep saying we need better kickers though.

Even acknowledging that you’ve got to keep evolving and there may be a structural imbalance among our midfield group, I don’t see why this can’t be addressed with our current draft hand. 5, 13, F1 and a fistful of second rounders is a damn good haul.

Push Tracc forward for the second half of his career to play the Dustin Martin role, bring in a couple of skilful mids in picks and/or trade who can deliver the pill. Problem sorted.

The only way trading out Oliver makes any kind of sense to me is if we end up with Harley Reid and he turns out to be everything and more that the recruiters think he will be. The obvious risks there are: 1. He won’t be that good. 2. Offers for Oliver will be below expectation, meaning we won’t get sufficient draft capital to even get access to Reid and instead end up with something lesser than we’d hoped for.

Big, big gamble for a club that’s not far off it.

Hello Dees fans!

The embedded resources below are kept up to date by the trade board mods (as much as possible – we are human after all). Enjoy!

Scythe94 you may like to sticky or merge this post, move it to the start of the thread (so the sticky post doesn't rotate if a post is deleted before it).

No way. Its better then Norths. North Melbourne dont possess anyone as good as Bayley Fritsch. Granted I think Larkey is underrated. I also dont think they have any small forwards as dangerous as Kozi. People are also quick to forget that up to round 12 of this year or thereabouts the Dees were the highest scoring team in the comp. Nothing wrong with the way our forward line functioned back then! The only thing that got worse with our scoring was our ball movement going forward.

Yeah, our forwardline is better than North. Take Larkey out and they are pretty disastrous. Our F50 looked much better with a contested marking target in Petty. Even just Melksham running around causing havoc we looked more potent. I don't know, JVR, Petty, Koz, Trac(predominantly forward), McAdam and Chandler looks pretty decent on paper. If we secure a decent tall target, i can see Petty going to the backline. We have some talent in there, but it's the finishing of Trac, the delivery and the lack of spread that kills us. I hope McQualter can bring something in regards to solving our forward half issues. Trac needs to do nothing but work on his routine over summer. If he improves his kicking even slightly it would be hugely beneficial. He gets so many opportunities.

We'd have won both comfortably if our forwards could kick relatively straight. We lost both by a kick having had significantly more scoring shots on both nights. The hack kicks were frustrating but we generated plenty of opportunities beyond the straight F50 count.

Based on the assumption the game plays out exactly the same and Collingwood don't just goal from every resulting centre clearance which we seemed to concede in every important moment in finals.

Far out it sounds like he might actually be out the door.

I know there's been some good banter re his worth to the team but i think he's the best Demon I've ever seen and to think he's in his prime but might be traded is stunning.

The flip side is we are overstocked for inside mids, so if we get a massive deal for him and add either a gun KPF or mid with kicking skills, plus and early pick, it could be a win-win situation.

If Oliver goes we are potentially down 5 inside mids from our list this year. Not sure we're overstocked tbh.
