Do you have a link to the article? I can't find anything on Google or the AFL website. Not doubting you, just trying to find the article you referenced.
From the article below:

"For instance, it would have allowed Adelaide to list one of Rory Sloane or Taylor Walker as a veteran for 2024 and opened up another spot on their primary list. The idea was designed to keep veterans in the game without sacrificing a list spot that a youngster may have taken, with the veteran’s full payments still counted in the salary cap."

There's a link in the post above

So Redman isn't an intercept 3rd tall defender ....and we aren't looking for that player type

Get out of this one Jeff .....cause you "wanted" Redman

More half back then third tall, but equally I think it goes unsaid that we're also trying to attract elite (or borderline elite) players here.

Well… considering McSpud is going to the bombers as a free agent..

thank fxxk Redman re-signed and didnt agree to come to us..

because the dodo would definitely matched and demanded our pick 9 and next years 1st..

as any compo for redman, if they didnt match and force the trade, wouldve been deleted due to them getting McSpud as a free agent.

bullet dodged.

Where is the news that rules it in?
Haven’t seen any but did see a lot of traffic on here discussing it in depth (including about how/why it wasn’t in the media without that slowing the talk down) followed by a few comments alluding to it being debunked and no ongoing discussion.

So I assumed that the fact it was now been mentioned only as something shown to be false there was an actual reason I had missed?

I guess I kinda lost hope for Hayward when there was multiple pages discussing the not if but when capture of Brennan Cox in the 24hrs leading up to his long term resigning.

and thats the same time I started seeing comments about Hayward being a no go but thoight I missed a memo in between

Not sure we know what’s being offered, but crouch was a few of years ago now. We forced him out because we thought we were def getting juicy band 1 compo

I think we forced him out because he didn't run defensively, we didn't trust his body and he had a few off field habits.

We certainly HOPED we'd get better compo, but I don't know if we ever thought there was much of a market for him.

No. The media was full of reports all season long about our intentions, that was part of the problem: we had been open about our plans all along.

Could both be true? Perhaps.

But our biggest issue was that we were open about why we were letting him go. Which made Kelly’s prognostications during the free agency window problematic

Rob Chapman, at a pre-game lunch late in the season, explicitly mentioned that we would have the first two picks in the draft

Weren't we finally committing to a rebuild and he was the only one coming out of contract?

And once you go down the route of pushing someone out it's kinda tough to back pedal

Ok bear with me...

1. Ess agree to offer Gresham a band 1 salary on the 'understanding' St K give them the first round compo for Shiel.

2. St K then decide that they'd rather keep the band 1 compo than recruit an injury prone over the hill Dylan Shiel.

3. Ess get screwed over, but have no recourse because it's tampering.

The end.

We telegraphed from a long way out that we weren't prepared to retain him so St Kilda used that against us to drive down his price

What we should have done, and what North are doing with McKay, is have an offer for retention at a value slightly below that of first round pick compensation.

However that probably wouldn't have worked either as there wasn't a market for Crouch at that price because he isn't worth that as a player

Not the only one, seeing Atkins was also a free agent that year.

That said, we certainly had $$$ in our eyes when it came to Brad Crouch.

I genuinely think we did this but farked up the math. To be fair we were always going to get the worst possible result from the AFLs secret sauce formula.

Did he? Is there a link for that?
Still asking for links I see?
Yet you don’t give a shit when we provide them and they don’t support your view.
