Mod notice after Mr Bob did a lot of annoying work in moving days of posts out of here. As we are heading into offseason, this thread is for 2023 list management only. Getting upset on previous trades can be taken to the vent thread. Lets keep this thread on track in the part of the year it's actually relevant

Anyone else find the glorification of these player agents in recent years becoming more and more irritating?
A few years ago no one knew who the **** most of these guys were or what they looked like apart from a handful of idiots like Ricky Nixon.
Now they are everywhere and become more and more prominent each year. Twomey putting a different one each week up on a pedestal, that Paul Connors guy gave me serious FIGJAM vibes too, along with Young.
At the end of the day they are just parasites living off the talent of their clients.

yeah listening to Bell this morning it sounds like Tom Morris was purely just speculating, and we're not going to ask very high for Henry.
Ya I think you might be right.
Morris is the guy who thought Sam Weidemann was worth pick 3 when he was at Melbourne so I’d take his valuations with a pinch of salt

Reckless optimism trade.

Hawthorn pick 3 + junk pick for Henry + our F1 2024.

Both clubs gamble on Freo's fortunes next year (won't happen....).

Take either Watson or Curtin this year.

Yes I'm drunk.

do players even need agents?
From what I understand the fee the agent charges is far outweighed by them having opportunities maximised.
Also for fringe players, agents shop their guys around to help find clubs and in some
Cases keep careers alive. Hard to do that if you don’t have one.
I personally know a fringe AFL player who was delisted last year and his agent got him a new home for this season at a different AFL club. Very unlikely he could have done that by himself.

Connor Blakely?

Apparently that dude is still on a list. Just wow.

I thought you were kidding, I actually thought it was a couple of years ago he got delisted but it was only last year.
I'm sure he'll be delisted this year, but that's still crazy.
Yeah it's crazy, isn't it? Been playing VFL all year apparently, after being put onto Gold Coasts list last year as delisted free agent.

Thankfully he also mentioned Chapman was a possibility

Honestly we need both Chapman and Hughes down back. I'm most worried about what our backline will look like in 3-4 years which is when I think we actually have a shot at winning it all. I don't think I want Chapman up the ground anymore.
