Mod notice after Mr Bob did a lot of annoying work in moving days of posts out of here. As we are heading into offseason, this thread is for 2023 list management only. Getting upset on previous trades can be taken to the vent thread. Lets keep this thread on track in the part of the year it's actually relevant

off topic, but wasn't there a study that proved that due to the way in which grass grows, and the angle at which it's viewed, it was proven that given two equal lawns, the one on the other side will always look greener?

I reckon if they did that study on club boards they would find the opposite, case and point, this thread.

I think we are saying the opposite here Eski, but every supporter thinks their young talent is a lock to be in GOAT conversations and undervalues other teams players in comparison.

The one that I do find interesting is the treatment / opinion of Fyfe. I dont know of other supporters that would discredit a club legend the way some Freo peeps do with Fyfe.

I've found that potential seems to be worth more than reality.

Naughton is a best 22 player everyday of the week and is a 50 goal a year forward. He's a walkup start to our team.

Amiss could be a best 22 player and has shown glimpses of his talent but is yet to lock in that forward position.

That being said, Amiss is ours, and he wears purple already. So I'll back him in to be better than Naughton!

I think i'd be expecting top 4, I mean, if Amiss kicks 50 goals this year (what I'd expect Naughton to kick) and we dont make top 4, then something has gone pretty wrong somewhere.

I know and expect discussion on the board to be very purple coloured (which is awesome and what its for) so I suppose I just wanted to poke the bear =)

I only say 6 because I think there are a lot of teams that could reasonably expect the same. So we could play well enough to have finished top 4 but just through the draw/other results miss.

Time will tell. I know Graham is a massive fan and he was in charge of a pretty decent forward line including Kennedy for a fair chunk at eagles.

I’m all in here. Amiss will kick more goals than Naughton by end of 2024

Taking the magic genie out of it, if Naughton had asked for a trade to us last trade period and Dogs said, straight swap for Amiss is the only thing we’d consider, you’d say no?

I remember astro”naught” lived up to his name having “naught” impact in the Dogs final last year with “naught” goals. Amiss had 2 should have had 3 in his second game. Also “Naught” All Australians.

In 3 years I have zero doubt Amiss will supersede Naughton.

So 100% I’m not taking Naughton straight swap for Amiss.

Naughton’s strength is his hands reaching the ball at its highest point in the air ie aerial ability. Hes a gun no doubt however Amiss has better speed and agility already. Naughton gets bogged down in the one on one, which is easier to defend. Cox/Pearce dominated in the final v Bulldogs.
Funny thing is throw money at any of Bulldogs’ forwards end of the year. No way Lobb, English, Darcy, JUH, Naughton, Bruce will all be satisfied.

They are also in deep need of a marking tall forward, that run and gun style they play will eventually get slowed down and when the ball moves slow they will need Mason Cox to take bulk marks down the line... so they'll open the cheque book for Naughton

I'm honestly not fussed and I've had a lot of discussion with Salim over the years about drafting Cerra being the right decision. I was just bored and poking at some hypotheticals haha. Still over a month till the season starts

Cerra leaving opened our salary cap, making space for Brodie and the advantageous trade of a future 2nd for Brodie and pick 19 (Johnson).

For the picks we got for Cerra we got Amiss (and something else?).
