Mod notice after Mr Bob did a lot of annoying work in moving days of posts out of here. As we are heading into offseason, this thread is for 2023 list management only. Getting upset on previous trades can be taken to the vent thread. Lets keep this thread on track in the part of the year it's actually relevant

McDonald is tracking really well from what I have seen (for a 21 year old) just not sure he will compliment amiss who is our FF for the next 10 years. If one or the other can play CHF or complimentary positions then I'm all for picking him up.

You know who else is tracking very well, Treacy. He kicked 15 goals from 17 games in 23, the same as McDonald did last year. Treacy was a bit more raw to begin with and lost a year through injury.

If we bring in McDonald or JVR it costs us a heap of Capital and we lose Treacy when he might end up better than both of them, too early to say. I’m keeping Treacy at the moment, he’s got mongrel which we need too.

Exactly. Against Hawthorn Treacy and Newcombe connected shoulder to shoulder. Newcombe hit the deck and looked winded and Treacy trotted off like it was nothing.

Football is a contested game, war of attrition. Guys that hunt the opposition and make the opposition move a little less freely from pain soreness are gold.

That was beautiful, not many can do that to Newcombe.

I like Treacy, the list management question is how sure are we that he'll make it, because if that's the missing piece then we'll be kicking ourselves.

It'd be crazy not to try and keep Treacy as he shows promise and wouldn't take up the same cap space as those proposed, but we need a backup plan if he doesn't keep developing.
Any target like this may not come through, but you have to keep trying to improve your list otherwise you'll not be competitive.

Should just go to hawthorn than we can get Brockman.
There’s close to zero chance we get Brockman now. Already agreed to a deal with wce, and I think it would be hard to change his mind considering they’re very much a family club with lots of players with kids and we’re the complete opposite with only Sonny who has kids

As GC need points for their academy picks, what are the chances of us packaging up our lot for their first (currently Pick 4)?

Apologies if this has been raised earlier in the thread.

You're relaying dirty bird talking points. How much of a family club is West Coast going to be in 2.5 years once they've finished cycling the list?

The reason he will go there is the absolutely non touchy feeling one: they can afford to risk more money and a longer contract in him, and he's guaranteed a game.

Fremantle might have a better time of getting Melbourne's first round pick off Gold Coast, assuming they want to trade for Gold Coast's pick #4.

Something like:
Melbourne trade #15, future first and #24 to GC for Chol, #4 and #56

Then we try and buy #15 and Sharp for #21 and F2/F3

While this is important (I've literally named my indoor soccer team Deadly Dadbods to give you an idea how I can relate), aren't West Coast about to cull their old people?

Kinda ****ed up that we not only gifted them May, but possibly Durrsma as well.

Reading between the lines I really do believe CDTs mystery man could be DGB now. He does fill a need as a quality back up tall swingman type that in time will takeover from either Cox or Pierce. Without Hamling who we all thought was long gone the cupbard is pretty bare. DGB's versatility forward or back was always something that was talked about and there was a lot of interest on this board as well in his draft year. Has'nt shown to be a star yet but thats not really his role.
A lot to playout however now with West Coasts interest and the Hawks wanting to improve picks.

yeah honestly wouldnt mind him at all, hes at a tough spot behind sic at the hawks, but hes shown a bit when going forward, would be good to have that flexibility and depth at what should be a decent cost

Yeah because outside 2018 being a "family club" has really worked out well for them.

or,
we could swap Henry for Tarryn Thomas

What if they trade pick #4 and pick #5 for pick #1, did we give them Harley Reid if it has taken them trading the currency from Luke Jackson plus next year's first to get him?
Reid is going to be a good player but he is overrated. If Durrsma is developed properly, he will be a game winner.
