Mod notice after Mr Bob did a lot of annoying work in moving days of posts out of here. As we are heading into offseason, this thread is for 2023 list management only. Getting upset on previous trades can be taken to the vent thread. Lets keep this thread on track in the part of the year it's actually relevant

Fremantle might have a better time of getting Melbourne's first round pick off Gold Coast, assuming they want to trade for Gold Coast's pick #4.

Something like:
Melbourne trade #15, future first and #24 to GC for Chol, #4 and #56

Then we try and buy #15 and Sharp for #21 and F2/F3
Can’t see Melb going for Chol

Melbourne minus Grundy end of 2023 and then minus Ben Brown/Tom McDonald/Schache end of 2024.

I think they'll see a ruck option who can play forward (which is the opposite of Grundy/Gawn) as a high priority.
I reckon the opposite of a ruck option who can play forward is a small mid who can play as a defender

Chol would want to move to a club where he’d play. He isn’t getting a game at Melbourne over petty or JVR next year

Is Xavier duursma someone freo should look at, upgrade from Henry IMO apparently his GF is from Perth. Name has been thrown around on SES this morning

They have petty JVR and drafted Jefferson, plus McDonald brown & Schache. Don’t need that many forwards
These three are not worth considering in any way shape or form, they are absolutely cooked. JVR, Jefferson (if any good) and Chol can all play together

Petty will be number 1 forward next year… him & JVR plus Fritsch

McDonald will play tomorrow night.
Petty is a good mention and someone I forgot. Still think given he'd be cheap enough, Chol would a good get for them and McDonald wouldnt play if they have Chol hopefully. Their forward list honestly completely sucks. Fritsch I dont think counts when talking about these size of players

If chol isn’t getting a game at suns, he isn’t playing at Melbourne. Fritsch plays as a 3rd tall.

We've had Hogan, McCarthy, Bennell ect. We don't pick crew with off-field problems anymore.
I was being facetious.
There would be a snowflake's chance in hell we would manage to get Thomas for Henry, but it would be a dream come true.
To be fair, I did think the same thing when Bennell & Hogan were recruited, so I see your point.
But that talent!
Yes, fool me three times. I would still go for it.

Melbourne have the worst KPF stocks of any top 8 team and close to any team in the comp IMO. Their success is off an incredible backline, midfield and Fritsch/Pickett in the forwardline. Melbourne would dream of having Luko and King and there are plenty of examples of a player not getting a game at GC, going to a better team and being best 22 / very good

I think they've been searching desperately to fill the gap of Luke Jackson all season, Grundy is too Gawn like to do that but Chol is more like the forward target they've been looking for than Grundy.

I think they will consider replacing Grundy with Chol, banking the extra cash and moving on from that experiment.

I expect they will also look to shop around all of Brown, McDonald and Schache knowing all three are out of contract next year and all three are looking like finishing their careers at AFL level at that time.

Gold Coast could really have a choice between the future first of Melbourne plus a Brown/McDonald or the future first of Freo plus Taberner for Chol and pick #4.

It is essentially the same situation at both clubs. Both new clubs offering fwd/ruck positions, both new clubs dropping a mature body off the list in the same relative position to accomodate Chol
