Goldsworthy was an outright gun in his prime. Always stood up in big finals.

How about we try and develop him in a highly valuable position first before making him *ing full back
Not only are selections s**t but the positions we place our young draftees in are also s**t.
How about we try and maximise their potential and then if it doesn't work, see if they can find another spot on the ground.

You can see why fans aren't sure if it is development or recruiting that is holding us back
I'm 90% sure it's development, given that we're not doing a SOS and picking players wildly differently from where everyone else is expecting them to go in the draft. If the majority of people think that's where they should be picked, and that's where we're picking them, then it's hard to say it's our recruitment that's fundamentally flawed.
However, our ability to take those talented youngers, and to regress their performance levels to below what they achieved in the U18 ranks... That shows how our development program sucks.
Our development coaches have a unique ability to turn U18 guns into AFL nugs. Any youngster unfortunate enough to spend a year or more in our SANFL side is screwed for good. Only those, like Michelanney, who escape the development group quickly, have any chance of reaching their full potential.
