I'm not saying I want him dropped, but isn't Zac meant to be one of our solid experienced defenders?

Being a year out with injuries kidna makes everything a bit difficult. I kinda expect him to be rusty for the first half. If he still sucks in the 2nd half then we get giving him a solid roasting.

I think William has been okay, but not the supposedly 800k a year he is on.

I wish he be more daring and run and gun like what he used to do. Not these weird dinkly 30m kicks.

Confusing that Owies has been consistent fwd?

Compare to our other small fwd, I believe he has. Great set-shot for goal, does the d50 pressure, pretty much what you expect from a small fwd.
He doesn't crumb, which is what I expect from a small forward.
He gets his goals from marks and frees, again not really the expectation of a small forward.
Goal kicking at 50% this year.

After Voss' clips on our defence, hitting a 100K members our biggest traditional rival at the home of football on the Friday night slot. If we don't come out snarling, focused, play the ball and push for 4 quarters it will be a step backwards to what the team is hoping to achieve. We are in the window and this season top 4 will be important with the evenness of the competition. Having an opportunity to have a week off prior to the prelim is crucial.

Smash em.

Not just up for the game they will be bouyed by the fact they play very similar style to Geelong and I reckon that was well on Vossys mind at the presser after the game on the weekend.

I expect unbelievable pressure all over the ground this week

This team is made of tougher stuff and if I were a betting man I’d put my house on them to come out breathing fire and have no doubt they’ll respond.. Reckon they also kind of deserve the respect to at least show that without our fans getting upset over 1 loss..

Who would you suggest to replace Owies in that role then? Only player on the list I see is Motlop and he is a few weeks away after reading the injury report?

Fantasia and Durdin have not been great so I be dropping those 2 instead of Owies first. But I am more incline to give more time to Durdin because I think he needs continuinty and I seen enough from him that he should be a mainstay in the team for a few more years.

"He gets his goals from marks and frees, again not really the expectation of a small forward." Well yeah, isn't that the point of any fwd?

He get his mark because he outworks his opponents. He gets free because he is first in the contest and willing to be a target option to get those marks. But I do agree that his crumbing is less to be desired.

Getting upset and setting the record straight is what makes club cultures and demands success. We built 100 years of success on that mentality.......the other thought process, can stay in the last 20 years - thanks

I'd actually like to give Ollie a break and get Binns a full game.

His disposal by foot has been ordinary of late and he was found out for lack of size against the bigger Cats bodies (not that Binns would address that issue), but given they can both run all day I can't see us losing anything if Binns were to get the nod at this point.

Cez for Carroll
Binns for Ollie
Durds for Young

I’ve been reading here a loooooong time… But I’m also only born in 1990 so I didn’t grow up with the successful Carlton, so maybe that’s why losses don’t phase me like they do for some.. Doesn’t mean I’m less passionate, I constantly rewatch old games etc, I mean I literally stomached some of the worst Carlton sides in history so I dunno a loss to a good side like the cats just doesn’t seem as catastrophic to me as it does to others 😂..

Fantasia and Durdin haven't been great, but I think they've been better than Owies.
Owies made an impact as a sub against Freo 4 games ago, but has been down the last 3 weeks.
Fantasia and Cunner should come into the forwardline this week.

I do like the cunners inclusion. But even thinking about it, our small fwd position is left to be desired.

Considering the coach was the most upset he's been over a loss and expressed as such vindicates a lot of what we've seen this year with our at times shaky team defense and inability to hit the scoreboard when given the opportunity.

We've given the team 22 years of an out. They finally got the lightbulb moment in the second half of 23 and now the expectations for themselves and us is a much higher standard that has been flirted with too often so far this season.

That's astonishing honestly. Basically the bread and butter of small forwards.

Team play didn't help them. shallow entries a lot of the time and quite often slow ball movement in transition allowing a well drilled back six with assistance from their mids to often out number around the contest at the fall of the ball.

I don't mind slowing the game down at the right time but generating 4 or 5 kick mark kick marks to then either dump it forward or stuff the disposal on the last kick is just giving it back to the opposition.

The small forward crumbing works best closer to the big sticks where the backs can't adjust as quick but we rarely afforded them that opportunity.

Given our s**t kicking, shallow entries and slower transition, apart from the odd jag by the keys (who were virtually always out numbered going at the ball) it was on the half forwards and mids to generate scores.

I mean we scored 30 times from 66 entries, that tells you a fair bit about how we were delivering the ball into the F50.

Have all the weapons required to win a couple of flags - not just one or some honourable finals appearances....

The players who arent match winners can either contribute and do their fair share in a contending team's required levels or go an get some form and hunger back.

I want Fantasia/Cuningham and Martin in the forward line along with the three talls and resting Cripps - and lets see who is going to cover all that ...
