Apologies if I’ve missed anything but I was under the impression from Gettables (can’t remember when) we’ve only got 2 years on the table for Starcevich?

Is it actually possible that the compensation pick for Starcevich would be greater than what WCE would receive for Allen? Would we be paying Allen > $900k?

No because we are going to finish top 4. WCE bottom. I wouldn’t be surprised if we are paying Allen the same or slightly less than Starce.

Yeah, but I was more thinking band 1 for Starc and band 2 for Allen. Wishful thinking I know 😁

We could be paying Allen a $30 lions shop voucher and a packet of homebrand plain chips and the AFL would still gift WCE band 1 as a quasi priority pick.

Yep. Couldn't agree more. Where the hell has that all come from?

I don't want any of you involved deciding whether or not I should go into a nursing home or not....

You look gone. Now it's only a matter of which nursing home will have you.
Still negotiating the level of care. The best we could get is band 3.

Word on street is Melbourne are willing to cover some of the cost of band-2 care, if you agree to share a room with Steven May.

Looks gone to me. Hopefully doesn’t start a trend within the club, but if he goes will be disappointing, but not the end of the world. As long a he knows he may get a lot more money, but the friendships he has now may not be the same.
I wouldn't have thought so he looked like he's more focused on playing finals Zac is much more loyal than $$$$

On Starce being one concussion away from his career ending, I understand that he is at a higher risk than some others but is that not the case with every player? How many concussions has Starce had in his career?

I'm still amazed that Harris Andrews got back at all from that cowardly assault by Jeremy Cameron(2018) or Stef Martin from that despicable bump of Steven May(2016).

You would think any player copping a similar high impact collision like Harris/Stef did in those incidents and it could be career over these days.

Having one or two over years, whilst not good in the long run, doesn't take you out of an AFL career. Having 3 in 14 games definitely does.

On First Crack tonight King, Montagna and Dixon were salivating about the battle of the master coaches ie. Scott v Mitchell.... it was vomit worthy.
they'd be hoodwinked with the ol' "Science baffles bullshit".
Like Scotty is very articulate with his reasoning , phrasing, talking in illustrative mesmerizing stories, but doesn't mean he is any better at coaching ffs.
Just like a Politition when he packages up what everyone else has said , but just articulated, and then claims it was his idea and the crowd cheers.
Imbeciles.

Nigel Lappin must be the puppet master.

It was funny last night i watched first crack when those 2 fake coaches trying to sound start and pump up those 2 coaches then watched 360 with 2 actual brilliant coaches and they were like "coaches just keep it simple for the players in finals and are risk of confusing them if they try to over-coach".

Just shows how out of touch Kingy is and how hard he works to come across as anything other than a dumbass

What sort of coin do we think Starce would be on at the moment and what would be the highest we would go?

Now 650K? Our offer 725K? Could we afford to go 900K for 2026 and then down to 700-25K for the remainder of the offer?

Even though Starce is elite at his role I agree that 900K is too much for him/that role.
He must be currently in the top 25% paid player for us with his restricted status. I think that 650k is likely a good guess, for this year at-least.

Is he going to be in that bracket going forward ? I’d have all of Harris, Wilmot, Fletcher, Dunkley, McCluggage, Ashcroft, Bailey, Rayner, Morris, Draper and Allen after this year in that top 25%. Potentially Berry and increasingly likely Lohmann, with Zorko and Neale likely dropping short term.

It is such a hard one, he’s firmly in that next bracket of players with Hipwood, Payne, Lester with that unsung importance, who can have that top 10 regular influence on the game and justify that 800k.
Is it money well spent for us though ? With so many other likely requiring pay increases also.

I’d love to keep him, he and Noah balance out Zorko and to a less extent Wilmot and Fletcher so well. As with everything, I’m confident management with all the information are making a logical decision

I like Starce a lot and I think he was one of the unsung hero's in our premiership team, but this year has reminded us that we're a system based club. We have no Payne, no answerth, no Kiddy, no lachie, and the list could go on. And yet we have found ourselves in a prelim. Even if he leaves, his role will easily be covered (probably by answerth) who is just as good, if not better.

Also, 900k for 6 years. That's band 1 territory. Let's get a first rounder from this.
