yeah...In one way I’m happy to have the picks.
Not getting Kozzie doesn’t help us win a flag, but then it doesn’t mean we become like the Eagles are now in about 7 years time.
His off-field behaviour in the year or two before he was delisted wasn’t great, I don’t think the club did the wrong thing as such, but no doubt he wouldn’t have been happy about it.We got rid of him when he wanted to continue. He was very much a Melbourne supporter for a long period of time after that and only thawed to Freo a couple of years ago through is indigenous contacts.

The article is carefully written to try to stick the knife into Freo without technically doing it. That sentence doesn’t mean Farmer didn’t work, he just got listed last next to the didn’t work line."...players had left Victoria and moved to WA where it worked, and those where it didn't, including former client Jeff Farmer."
Wot. The Wizard loves Freo.

Farmer definitely worked. Bolton has also worked and he would be wasting away at WC had he decided to follow the managers preferred WA team.
I feel like Jeff had better highs when he was a Demon.
He was great for us, but he did tail off and really played angry once the umps turned on him a bit.
Played a touch too much for free kicks and it gave them an excuse to shaft him, he started missing out on the ones that he was entitled to.
At his best he was just magnificent.
Sponsors and endorsements is where the money's at
They take 20% or more on those
Thats why its better to have star players, they command good sponsorship deals
They get all sorts of indigenous events funded by the AFLHow much could Bolton and Pickett honestly have from sponsors/endorsements? They are quiet/reserved types and don't have the pull of a Bailey Smith or Daicos.
I was looking for some security screens and saw McGovern's face pop up on their website. Liam Ryan does dodgy rug commercials. I'm sure players can rack up a bunch of obscure stuff, but a lot of it is probably just payment with freebies.
I would think what the stars get is a small fraction of their actual salary and the manager would be getting 20% of not a whole lot.
Google AI tells me Daicos has a five figure deal with Nike, making him one of the top off field earners. And he's the golden child who is much more marketable than Bolton and Pickett.
I would think Bolton and Pickett would struggle to bring in more than 100k each from endorsements, and wouldn't be surprised if it is a lot less. Maybe the manager walks away with 40k or 20k or 10k from the pair of them, but whatever it is, I doubt it is a huge windfall.
To be fair, I recon Melbourne tabled the offer first. I’m not sure he had to do a lot of persuading when it’s 12.5m.So he talked Kozzie out of going to WA because of the "failed players", yet he organized the Tim Kelly trade and he literally traded Bolton, who has been a success, less than 12 months ago.
Bit of a slap in the face to Bolton. Of all the managers Kozzie had to pick from, he chose that flog?
Don't go home for family reasons mate, sign for extra money, which in turn pays my salary, because you're not homesick.
No chance Kozzie doesn't flirt with the idea of trading to WA soon, his manager just locked in his bank account, even Melbourne would know he'll ask for a trade soon
Sounds like McVee has a much better offer on the table elsewhere
Could McVee play wing for us?
Dees just bought themselves a couple of years and a whole lot of bargaining power
At least it means Jackson ain't going anywhere
This is how I see it.

Reidy and Darcy gone in one off season with no other back up in place?
Ideally you bring in the best mature ager from 2nd tier comp.
I don't see much point keeping Reidy, as you don't want him to play.
Our current best twenty two has all of our first choice rucks and the two players who are the backup for it, with one of them being the overlap. We have to have either a tall forward who can slide in and replace Jackson or Voss forward or directly replace Jackson or Darcy in the ruck... or both.
We don't have depth in either position.
My current best 22 has Jackson as the main ruck, Voss as backup and Dudley playing as a small forward. (Effectively replace Darcy with Dudley, and go smaller and quicker )
If you pretend that the best twenty two is the one that takes the field last week and this week (assuming no late Darcy out change for Dudley), we are short of a key forward in my opinion.
If we need more run, why not drop Voss for Dudley? Darcy is way better in the ruck than Voss, Voss is far better forward but he isn't the only forward - Darcy in my mind results in more deliver to the entire forward line.
For the record I want Voss in the team, but I also want Jackson and Darcy in there too.
Dudley has had a taste at the top level and now I want him to get as fit as possible so he can be our best small forward next year after Bolton.
