I don't think we would have signed him otherwise. So now Indy has signed, does that mean he has given away basketball, or has joing the Crows just a fall back for him?

I think if it was the second option it’d be a Collingwood/Condon scenario, where he doesn’t officially sign until he knows he won’t make it in the NBASo now Indy has signed, does that mean he has given away basketball, or has joing the Crows just a fall back for him?
burgess looks like the oldest 30 year old I have ever seen. lolUtter crap. Burgess has proven multiple times he is not AFL standard. There is no role, there is no stepping in. He's a waste of space.
Lemmey has yet to be given that opportunity.

Good luck to them. Reckon they'll need it against us.Looks like another two years for Phillipou (til 2028) now sadly
Saints building nicely..
I would be interested in getting Hollands from Carlton. Would come cheap, is classy and talented, and wanted to be drafted by the Crows as he is a tragic.
Off field issues aside. We still need some more class in the midfield, and he could be a good get.
Yeah, we are too risk adverse to take him. I hope I am wrong. He would be a really cheap get.
Carlton has asked him to find a new club, normally that means that they just want to salary dump him for a token draft pick.
I'd like to see us take a chance on him, however I think we all know this club well enough to know that we normally avoid these type of players like the plague.
It's not an either-or situation. I'd be quite happy with neither.Utter crap. Burgess has proven multiple times he is not AFL standard. There is no role, there is no stepping in. He's a waste of space.

If it gave us the player rights to him we would have.I don't think we would have signed him otherwise.
Remains to be seen whether we see Cotton as a tallWe have Murray jnr and now Cotton. Do we need another tall?
Is that really all that you take from Carlton basically showing him the door while under contract with his brother Ollie also on their list?He would be a really cheap get.

Saw on reddit that his brother moved out of their joint house it was so bad.Is that really all that you take from Carlton basically showing him the door while under contract with his brother Ollie also on their list?

Strange then isn't it that Carlton re-committed to him before his initial rookie contract ran out if he was showing nothing hey?Considering Lemmey has been delisted by Carlton (and in rather quick time), he too has been given that opportunity and has so far proven that he is also a waste of space. If Carlton saw anything in him, he wouldn't have been delisted in August, 3 years in (assuming that he isn't a Lawrence Angwin type unit, or someone who has drug issues*). At least Burgess has survived for 5-6 years at this level.
Only difference between Lemmey and Burgess is he has a bit more time to correct that narrative.
*which is possible, seeing the Hollands news and 3 years in being a rather strange time to delist someone.
No matter how hard you spin it, if he shifts it will be contingent on him taking one hell of a haircut salary wise.
If we swapped Finlayson for Burgess, reckon we have decent cover. We have Murray jnr and now Cotton. Do we need another tall?
OK thanks mate and am appreciating your thoughts and insights. But please try and talk me thru it. He still has 5 years left IIRC and lets assume its 'only' 1.5 per year on average for the next 5 years (has been well reported how his long contract started with unders and then massively beefs up to the large final years numbers of 1.7m ish)
How does this possibly work for both us and Dees? I cant imagine we, or any club, would want to pay him 1m or more based on his exposed form from the last 2 years (ignoring all the other stuff here - lets just focus on footy)
IF Crows were still keen as you say, how does the 1.5m get divvied up between both us and Dees? I assume the contract length stays the same? And clearly we wouldnt want to be paying that much in a trade - lets be generous and say 1 x first rounder this year worth approx pick 22-25 after FS/NGA
Is that how you see it working?
Dees pay 500k per year for the next 5 years?
Crows pay 1m per year for the next 5 years?
Crows pay Dees 1 x first rounder to take him off their books?
I am just not sure EITHER club finds the above attractive but keen to understand how you think this could be structured up (and ideally we would have protections in case he went off the deep end again with all his known previous issues from a couple of years ago)
I would hope (and expect) that we have already had many conversations with his manager about exactly that
I'm a bit annoyed that Flanders seems to be in the market but he's going to St Kilda (!).
Ross and SOS - name a bigger pair of flogs
Possibly, but you've also got to wonder why Carlton delisted a 21 year old key forward/ruck, especially as his numbers look ok at VFL level from a quick glance.
We're talking a 1 year rookie deal here too see what he's got, showed plenty as a big gangly junior and it is Carlton after all, not the happiest place to be developing in recent years. 201cm athletic talls don't get any shorter as they develop
Burgess can step in and hold down a role. Kenney has no evidence of that yet
He would be a really cheap get.

I don't get your point?Strange then isn't it that Carlton re-committed to him before his initial rookie contract ran out if he was showing nothing hey?

Binns and Lemmey recommit to the Blues
Jaxon Binns and Harry Lemmey have signed contract extensions with Carlton.www.carltonfc.com.au
Key forward Lemmey was drafted to Carlton from West Adelaide with pick No.47. With proven athleticism and clean hands, Lemmey has been eager to learn and improve during his time at the Club.
Standing at 200 centimetres, Lemmey has displayed he has the skill set to make it at AFL level, with his best game this season coming in Round 16 against Coburg with 19 disposals, seven marks, eight hitouts and a goal.
The 19-year-old has also stepped up into the ruck over the last month and shown great promise, averaging 9.2 hitouts in the past five games.
Carlton Head of List Management Nick Austin said Binns and Lemmey have impressed with their dedication to their craft.
“We are pleased to see Jaxon and Harry continue as Carlton players for the coming years. The re-signing is a testament to the drive and hard-work they put in at training, which has been reflected in their great seasons in the VFL so far,” Austin said. “Harry has shown real promise since his start at Carlton. Having Harry McKay and Charlie Curnow to learn and grow his craft from has been huge for his development and we look forward to seeing him develop further over the next two years.”
