Do you watch much footy outside of Collingwood games? Nothing about what you’re saying indicates you do, and there’s nothing wrong with that, but it also means you’re probably underrating the player Rowell is.

Why do you need to know what random people on the internet would give up? They have no influence on trade value, we need to trust that Leppitsch is capable of getting us a decent deal.

No, that’s not correct. I didn’t open with a “broadside.” I’ve discussed the topic in a respectful manner. You don’t need to get emotional about it.

I don't think it's simplistic. He's been approached (and somewhat tempted) by other clubs before, isn't realising his potential, and it was in reference to a player being rumoured to be interested in coming here. De Goey does fit a certain Hardwick style.

To give Jordy as much advantage as I could I used his career best 2023 vs Rowell this season. Rowell comes out on top in several areas.

Once again Rowell comes out ahead in several areas, namely ball winning and clearances, much like the last comparison. Jordy has the edge in terms of scoring and marks due to his extensive time playing forward of the ball. Rowell tackles a lot more too. Consistency is the biggest one for me though, the gap between Rowells best and worst is significantly narrower than Jordy’s, and he stays on the park, whereas Jordy has always struggled to play a full season and that doesn’t seem to be changing any time soon.

Feels like many here are severely underrating Rowell, he’s been excellent for a long time in a pretty bad side, and he’s looking even better this year in a good one. Is Jordy’s best better than Rowell’s? Probably. But given the inconsistency in seeing that best version of him I’d take Rowell every day of the week.

Appreciate the effort in getting the stats.
This is a far more nuanced argument than the head to head stats IMO. Jordy is in the same class as Heeny, Rankine and Danger all of whom can be elite contributors in the midfield and forward.
They can turn a game playing in either position and have X factor.
Rowell is a mid Bull, - that’s it. No X factor or silk, and no ability to hurt a team by playing another position.
When Ned stands him, and blunts his effectiveness being 14cm taller and probably 8kg heavier- there is no other position for Hardwick to move Rowell with any likelihood of success.

So if Jordy can get healthy then my view is that he stays, and we don’t need to sell the farm for Rowell.

Yes, I read the Dusty comparison. I think my view has been made clear, and others are perhaps more open to trading him.

I guess we will see what happens, but I’m sure we can all agree that De Goey fit for September would be the thing we all want.
