How do we have more depth, by adding Spargo?
Cutting guys not up to it. Bringing in Spargo, Parker, Darling, Daniel. All have runs on the board and played in successful sides. The standards have lifted and we keep bringing in more elite talent rather than trading it for Picoane, Hay, Williams, Pittard types. If we see the same improvement this season say by 12 points a game, that would see us winning 6 or more games.

The time is now, everyone knows it. Go the extra step or miss out on the rise up the ladder

Have we not learnt anything over the last 6 years by talking up pre-season? I don' care if they have all put on muscle, improved their 2k trial etc, I want to see them in the real stuff. Until then, I say we are shite.
At this point in the year I’ll take any footy content and excited to hear how they have come back

Doesn’t mean it correlates to dominating the season

We brought in Daniel, Darling and Parker last year

Yep and the standards clearly lifted hence our improvement this year. In games for much longer and 2 goals a game from 10 plus wins. Another year with these guys leading and younger elite talent growing the only way is up. We have stability and consistency now across the board and it all points to a rise.
Something you couldn't be confident in saying in the last few seasons

The list is starting to have depth of elite talent now though. They have shown the last 18 months you will be cut if you don't fit a need. Competition for spots will be higher, the lifting of standards with another year of Parker, Darling and Spargo as premiership players, mean we get more out of pre season. Things have lined up for us now with a favorable draw we should be pushing harder now than ever
You lost me when you said Spargo.

Taking a very passing interest in preseason until we start putting wins together.
And as a passing observation, I am very pleased in the presentation of X, LDU, Sheezel, FOS and Kerch.

The issue is these players will front up in 2026.

We really need the next crop of talented kids that have yet to solidify themselves to push through.
Goater, George, Duursma and Archer to get fit again.
These 4 will transform us into a competitive side quicker if they can stay on the park.
If at least 3 aren't solidified in our best 23 by the end of 2026 - I am going to say we have gone nowhere.

Adam Cooney on the radio this morning said it took him 3 pre -seasons to get to a level where he could get a few possessions. Did say that he was very ordinary fitness wise when he arrived at the kennel

Going out on a bit of a limb here but just looking at some of the early pix, Lmac looks super fit. Kind of a forgotten player and yes he’s a bit of a whipping boy in these parts, but for some reason have a feeling he’s going to have a really impactful 2026.

Just get a feeling this guys relentless competitive attitude will unlock a bit in the team. No stone left unturned stuff.
And now paired with dovaston….lets hope, they can both develop and kick on to be that pesky small forward we’ve lacked. But gee with spargo arriving as well, guys like Harvey, RHJ, JK would be wanting to work hard on their athletic attributes to be more than a stay at home small fwd.

Cooney played 65 of a possible 68 games in his first three seasons, and averaged 12/19/19 touches a game in those years.

The effort was still there, even if it took a while for the development to catch up.

Pressure teams when they have the ball and a simple system to get some stability behind the ball
I think we can all get behind this
Barlow said they are looking to create a simple system for them to buy into. What have they been doing the last 2-3 years? Sounds like they are starting from scratch.

A simple system for starters would be to have 6 players who can defend. Not 5 players plus one garden gnome.

Corr/Darling are back

GL training update

A small bunch from todays training.
Only managed to get there for about 45 mins so missed some of what they were doing but a few things stood out.
Griff Logue - Looks fit. Leaner. Good to see he looks ripe for a solid pre season.
Banch - Just keeps standing out. He's always moving, always in the right spot, times his leaps well and takes some good overhead marks for a shorter payer. Aggressive tackler and if he tackles you you are not going to break it easily.
McKercher - again just stands out as the cleanest, smoothest player out there. Fabulous skills.
Sheez - see above.
Hope you like.

Hardeman the only one who immediately realised Stephens just laid his first career tackle on the one teammate they were told is 'no contact'.
lol. But also encouraging that Goater isn't in a no-contact cap. Probably the first preseason he hasn't permanently had one on in a while.
