totally agree with this, as I mention regularly... depth and competition are things we havent had in years. It should be hard to pick a best 18 or 23, there will always be 10 or so locks but then the rest it should be hard and often the variances are subjective and down to structure or player preference. You need a solid 30 that are interchangeable and have no impact to the overall quality of the selected team for that day.... unfort there will always be injuries, form slumps and suspensions. You need to cover them all with limited blipsIf either or both of Trembath and Duursma play their way past Darling then fantastic but he won’t make it easy on them. It would be good to have genuine competition and real depth so here is hoping the young guys turn up and turn it on next season.
And 2027 also.Based on Nick Brown's reports I'm now convinced we'll win the 2026 premiership.
To the captaincy.Failing to hit a 20m pass in training should result in banishment.
How many players would we have left if we enforced this?Failing to hit a 20m pass in training should result in banishment.
If they are getting a bit of practice with a new defensive system in that community game then it isn't meaningless.Yeah sorry, my point was clear to me but probably not to anyone else.
I just meant that it’s kind of silly to be happy our players aren’t being exposed to the risk of injury in some meaningless state of origin game when they will all be playing an even more meaningless “community series” game.
This is what exactly will happen.Wait until every second campaigner who's "desperate to represent their state" pulls out with hamstring tightness about a week before the game....
.....erm....Sheezel and FOS....and um, ah, errmmm .......dunnoHow many players would we have left if we enforced this?
Agree. Community series might not be "real" footy but it is a whole game where our team gets to play their gameplan and manage player minutes as they choose. I'd much rather at this stage our team is getting as much time as possible as a group.Community series at least gives the club a chance to prepare for the season. Trialling players in positions. Practising the game plan. Controlling minutes of the players against real opposition. It's not more meaningless.
If they are getting a bit of practice with a new defensive system in that community game then it isn't meaningless.
What a nuff nuff thing to say. All of the indigenous lads had great pride representing the indigenous community, Jy included. And he played a beaut.Boys should be focused on playing their best footy for nmfc not some exhibition match like Jy last year
Based on Nick Brown's reports I'm now convinced we'll win the 2026 premiership.
Daniel will be playing back arse cheek. That defensive system stinks
Its a genuine concern that we’ll be second to the contest. You cant play modern footy without players cutting off zones. Opposition will just punch the ball straight through the middle of the ground. You need to be able to push the opposition wide. You cant push them wide with a 1v1 defensive structure.Daniel will be playing back arse cheek.
