Re: Selection 61 - James Craig

And you wonder why
because Drummond isn't an expert, and makes OTT comments which makes people beleive their players are good
Panos was supposed to be first round and Ah Chee was a good prospect
but the experts dont agree with him

Re: Selection 61 - James Craig

no
just another overhyped Norwood player from the usual source

To be fair, he was the only KPP forward in the AA team after the National Championships. There is a good reason why he was hyped.

screw that
reserves in SANFL late last year
gets thrown in for one random game in the seniors, and struggles to get a touch, and to be fair, that day north's defense was hit by injury and Panos was only against our normal #5 back.

I dont want this to lead into another slanging match but Panos was rated by more than just Drummond. Irrespective if you think we believe players are good based purely on Drummonds opinion then you are dreaming. Your comment on Walker was a classic example.

Rowey said on 5AA Panos missing was a surprise, has he been listening to Drummond?

Re: Selection 61 - James Craig

Best tap ruck in the champs. Well, at the draft.

A little bit of a tweener but at this pick, bargin!

Re: Selection 61 - James Craig

Should be a KPP, can't see him making it as a ruck unless he puts on 5 cm.

Ryder rucked well at 197cm this year. If Craig's got such a massive vertical leap, I can't see why he wouldn't be able to play ruck. I'm sure he can jump 10cm higher than a lot of ruckmen in the league, who will be about 5-10cm taller than him.

This is fine at the centre bounce, where he is able to use his leap, but the ruck contests around the ground, where he can't get free to jump at the ball are where his lack of height becomes a problem.

He'll have to do a lot of work with Maric to see how it's done.

Seems to be a decent body size already, so shouldn't lose position too badly and watching his clips, he seemed to do okay in these situations. Maric and Sellar seemed to go alright in the around the ground work, so it can't be too much of an issue.

Wasn't particularly keen on him pre-draft, especially with an earlier pick, but then I didn't bother to watch his "vids", actually looks alright. Can certainly jump, as well as take a decent grab, could turn out to be a pretty decent pick for 61.

I love this, has the potential to be great, but may turn out to be a total bust, at pick 61 well worth the gamble!

Don't get me wrong, I'm more than happy with Craig at 61, didn't want him any earlier, but happy at 61 :p, he rucks very well, is extremely athletic and aggressive. Has the ability to be very damaging around the ground, on top of his clever tap work. Even if he doesn't make it as a ruckman, his athletic capabilities and footy smarts make him very flexible. Merely pointing out that Ryder goes alright in the middle due to his leap, but struggles around the ground due to lack of size, and in his case perhaps rucking nous.
